Hi all,
I got informed by Somethinelse that a teaser trailer has been released for Papa Sangre II. It's rather short, however, but it sounds not bad.
Give it a try at
http://www.papasangre.com/
or like it on Facebook at

What do you think about it?

Hi.
It sounds interesting.
II'll deffenetly  by it once it comes out.
although I've not beaten the first game, but still I'll by this one and enjoy. smile

I'm gone for real :)

I hope it has much more replay value than the first. Apart from that, it sounds good.

Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.

I agree with brad, I'll likely buy it even though I've not managed to completely finish the first game as yet.

The only thing is, if they've got boromir aka Richard sharpe aka Lord Edard Stark for voicing the game, I'd have liked to hear more of him, indeed I don't even know if that "hellow" was him or not.

Then again this is just a teaser after all.

I'll say the trailer is too short to say anything yet. smile But I'm looking forward to it.

Hello. This is Nicky from the Papa Sangre team.  It's really useful to see all of your comments on this site and we really value your support of our audio games.

A longer trailer which reveals a bit more is coming very soon.

We are really excited about the game, and feel it is a good step on from both Papa 1 and The Nightjar - Sean Bean is excellent in it. I am happy to talk more about the game here and answer any questions you have.

Thanks Nicky

When is it scheduled to be launched? I would prefer it to be delayed and have a bug free version?

Are there any new features that make it different from the first one?

Sorry for my english :D

2013-09-30 12:50:24

Hi,
What sort of gameplay can we expect? Is it still running away, or is there a bit more to do? I'll buy it either way regardless.

2013-09-30 13:02:36

Hi Nicky and welcome to the forum.
I'm also interested to hear more about the new game. Will it have more levels than the first game? What about unlockables and acheevements? It would be nice if it have gamecenter support with lots of acheevements.
I'm looking forward to the longer trailer and to hear more about the game.

Best regards SLJ.

Hi all,

Sorry for the delay in responding. I'm pleased to say Papa Sangre II will be launched by Halloween. Everything is in place and we are ready to go. I will post a longer trailer next week where you can hear more of Sean Bean's distinctive tone and some of the sfx used in the game. I suppose the trailer is a better experience for sighted players really as there is a bit of on screen text which explains the narrative. We wanted to make the game available to as wide an audience as possible, so we can continue to make the best audio games as possible..

In Papa II, there are 22 levels with much more complex gameplay than our past two games. Though if you have played Papa 1 and Nightjar you may find the early levels quite easy as they are also tutorials in how to move around the space, but it does get increasingly more challenging as you move through the game. With lots more binaural sound being played at any one time (up to 5 sounds), more complex scenarios and missions within each level.

We have also worked on the replay value, by including game centre achievements on each level. You can also skip a few levels that you can't complete.

We have added a new control - you can use the gyro mode and turn your device to the noise - which makes the game a lot easier. Our blind beta testers in general haven't enjoyed that control and prefer the dial. I'd be interested to hear back from players about their preference.

Thanks as ever for your support of our games.

Nicky

I think the main problem with the gyro has always been the slow reaction time. Others may disagree, but I generally prefer to adapt to touch-screen gestures over use of tilt. There are also rumours that iPhone 5s users may be somewhat in the lurch as the new motion sensor, despite reacting a lot faster, is basically hosed at the moment.

Just myself, as usual.

2013-10-11 19:17:22

Well I'll look forward to the new trailer, though it would've been nice to have some actual text of the on screen text just to give access to what was being said.

I'm myself particularly interested in the gameplay additions. I've played through much of the first papasangre (although i need to sit down and really try! with some of the later levels), however it'd be great to see more different ways to complete levels and different things to achieve, I was a little sorry I didn't get anything for saving the baby and the old man in the first game.

As to Gyro control, I have a question, not having used any game with it before. could you physically turn yourself around, or do you need to actually move the phone? If you could hold the phone still but move your body to face different directions I could see that as a major advantage to the game, since you can move much more quickly than slide a finger, and it'd also increase the emertion factor as well, albeit it might make the game a little hard to play on the train big_smile.

If on the other hand you just need to physically turn the phone a little, that might be harder since a visually impared player doesn't necessarily have a clear deffinition for a straight angle to return to other than that of their own body, they can't say for instance visually line up a phone's position relative to other objects and get a direction that way.

As I've said I haven't used any games that employ the gyro, so I'm not sure on this one.

Dark,
There isn't too many accessible gyro based games.
One stand out is,
BlindSide - The Audio Adventure Game by Epicycle, Aaron Rasmussen and Michael T. Astolfi.
You play as Case, an assistant professor who wakes up blind, to find his city destroyed and mysterious creatures devouring people.
Will you and your girlfriend be able to find your way without sight? How will you escape? Run for your life, save the girl, and uncover the mystery of the apocalypse--all in the dark!
BlindSide throws you into a fully-immersive 3d audio adventure set in a world you’ll never see.
Put on headphones, hold your iPhone, and face the direction you want to go. Listen as the world rotates around you and explore the darkness.
The gyros in your device will point your avatar the same direction you're facing in the real world.

If you have a swivel office chair that spins around, you can sit and know your direction by locating your desk.

2013-10-12 13:33:56

I actually thought of the swivel chair thing phil when discussing Aprone's head device, since my computer chair is one.

I've heard of blindside but wasn't sure if either A, it was fully accessible or B, it was a complete game, but like soul trapper, Freeq and probably a couple of others it's likely one I need to try.

Hi.
Wow, I'm looking very much forward to the new game. I like the idea on using the gyroscope. Blindside is an amazing game which I can't recommend enough. Okay I won't play it again just for my own enjoyment, but that first play through was an awesome experience.
Game center support, just, wow! smile

There also is "Escape the house", a free app where you're caught in a house with a ... let's say strange person.
However, you need to get out of there by using the gyroscope to rotate your body. It's a nice experience either, you could also post your own trailer onto your facebook wall.
One thing I like in Blindside is that you can choose between two rotation types:
1. Rotating by using the gyro and
2. rotating by tilting the device.

Would be great if you could choose between several rotation types in papa2, because some people don't like using the gyro or tilting the device or the well-known gesture to rotate in papa1 and nightjar.

I know, their new trailer sounds cool, though it's a little weerd to hear sean bean being creepy. They've also got a twitter competition to get a copy early, ---- go and see the papa2 news post for details and a link.

I'm looking forward to it myself.

Sean Bean being creepy? Well, I could imagine that. smile Why do you find this weird?
He have a nice voice. Sounds like the middle age like 45/55. You can check out his voice here:

and check out the more normal speech here in a cool interview which I should listen to later on:

Well, now I'm looking even more forward to this... smile I dont understand the Twitter compitition about the million souls and what you can be lucky to get access to.

Hi,
Sneak peek looks fun, but rather abbrupt on ending. I mean, very abrupt. They don't really show any gameplay. It sounds quite nice though, all the same. Looking forward to it.

2013-10-29 01:23:17

Nice clip, though I now want to see what the game actually plays like especially since from what I gather the game has slightly expanded gameplay from papa 1, aprticularly with extra achievements and such.

As to why Sean Bean being creepy is weerd, well it's just because of the rolls he's played in the past. His first most iconic part was as Captain richard Sharpe, a no nonsense napoleonic war British soldier. He then got famous for playing Boromir in the Lord of the Rings films, and more recently he played Lord Edard stark in the first tv Series of Game of thrones.

All of these characters are straight laced soldier types with a sense of honour, and usually a rather abrupt tempre for those they see as underhanded or sneaky, who usually get dealt with in short order.

it's sort of become a traidmark of Sean Bean's as an actor, indeed a lot of British people laughed at the scene in the first lotr film where he picks up the broken shards of the sword Narsil and says "still sharp" ---- was that about the sword or his previous character big_smile.

That is why him in a creepy horror setting is rather weerd, it's totally at odds for what he's best known for, though I suspect with him being a more than compitant actor it'll work in the end.
