Greetings gamers,

For those who may not be aware, we have released ChangeReaction 2 and SilverDollar for Windows. Both include the same feature set as the Mac versions, and can be purchased from our website: http://dracoent.com/Windows

We have also released the Draconis Show Case, a method for gamers to try out titles created with the next-generation Draconis game engine before they buy. This is a free Mac or Windows download available on our trials page: http://dracoent.com/trials

ChangeReaction 2 is available for $9.99, and SilverDollar for $1.99.

As always, if you have questions, we will answer them if we can.

Happy gaming!

Hello. I have Silver Dollar for MAC. Are upgrades for free for MAC OS?
Thanks, Vojta.

The Show Case seems to be a program, which includes the demos of the games and some trailers. They don't tell much about it on the website, but I could imagine a program which automatically downloaded new trails and trailers which would be cool.

Best regards SLJ.

Hi,
While I don't work for Draconis, I'll still answer a few questions:
Show Case is a completely seperate program from the games. It will allow you to play for as long as you want, but will have quite a lot of limitations as a  result. For instance, the change reaction demo only gives you half the normal amount of time you'd usually get, and silver dollar will only let you brawl. Then there are audio samples available from within the app.
It uses sapi or the mac voice.
Finally, if you want to buy a product on windows, and you've already got the mac version, you'll have to buy the windows version too.

Thanks lots for clerifying Aaron. Sometimes, I wander how you get all that information. :-)

Hi,
They answered some questions on twitter. Their twitter username is DracoEnt, so it's all one word, with the D and the E being capitalized.

Hi.

I have a question about the mac version of the showcase. So I tried to copy the app file to my applications folder but when I run it it says you can't run draconis showcase.app because it is not supported on this type of mac. Is it because I'm using an old mac mini from late 2006 with Snow Leopard?

I'd check with Draconis, but is this an Intel Mac Mini?  2006 sounds like a very early Mac Mini, so probably about time for an upgrade, if you don't mind me saying. smile

Just myself, as usual.

Hi.

I believe this is an intel, as I've heard that Snow Leopard only runs on intel based macs though I'm not sure.
As for upgrading, I can't do that in the near future. I was lucky to get the mac I got offo f kraigs list for $240. It works great with most stuff, has the screen reader built in, etc but a few things like upgrading and installing some apps from the mac app store don't seem to work. Still, pretty good considering it's running an older operating system.

Chris: This is because of Snow leopard. You should contact Draconiss about the issue and ask them what requirements their games have. A while ago, I heard a simular issue where they said Snow leopard was supported, so I'm not sure about what's going on. smile
Please keep us posted if you figure out something.

I noticed that the engine responds sluggishly to key presses. Apart from that though the sound quality is impressive. Are you using open al?

A few items…

Messages from this forum were being caught by our spam filter, so we haven't looked at this thread in a while, not realizing there were new messages. In any case, this is not a good place for tech support. Please use our online help desk at our website.

To answer some of the more general questions that came up in this thread previously…

1. Our titles require 64-bit Intel processors for Mac OS X. They will run fine in Snow Leopard if you have a 64-bit machine. The 2006 Mac Mini does not meet this minimum requirement, but most or all Macs from about 2007 onward should work fine.

2. Keyboard input should not be sluggish. Make sure your screen reader is disabled and that nothing else is intercepting keyboard input or otherwise slowing down your machine. The games ahve been tested on Windows XP machines with pretty minimal specs and still performed well.

3. A  problem with our web host caused a temporary outage of our web site, but that has been corrected and we have additionally implemented an alert system to minimize problems in the future.

4. Yes, we use OpenAL, as well as a great deal of custom code, to output audio.

5. Some 64-bit Windows machines were experiencing problems launching our new titles. This has been corrected and updated versions of the games are available for download from the appropriate product pages.

If you have general questions, you can ask here and we will try to answer them. If you have tech support issues, please use our online help desk.
