hi everyone

i was just willing to play sound rts on my computer and my current version, beta v2 told me that there is a newer version available. so i googled it, because the audiogames.net homepage isn't available.
and i found the newer version.
it is called:

sound rts release candidate 0.
i don't know what is new about this version i still have to download it. but i'll post the changelog below.

Available at:
http://jlpo.free.fr/soundrts

The main changes since 1.1 beta 2 are:
- fixed the chapter 10 of the campaign by having teleportation researched and by adding a second mage
- Windows installer: added a shortcut called "user" pointing to the user folder (custom maps, SoundRTS.ini, ...)
- the temporary folder is now a folder called "tmp" located in the user folder

SoundRTS 1.1 and SoundRTS 1.0 should coexist in the same machine without any problem. The settings are also stored in different folders (respectively "SoundRTS test" and "SoundRTS 1.0").

About multiplayer games, this version is only compatible with itself. If you modify the rules.txt file or the ai.txt file, you need to send it to your friends if you want to play with them, or they won't find your server.

enjoy

Hi.
Wow, things have been happening rather fast concerning soundRTS development of late.
I have one question though: I don't like the original sounds a lot (and I think most would agree) so I have always been using alternative soundpacks. But recently I found that the way to use it in the game has changed, with new folder names etc. So I was wondering, did anyone who made packs for the game update their packs to suit the new format?
I'm going to take a look at how to do this and try to figure out how to make my sounds work with the latest version and post it here if no-one else have done it yet.

hi

@bcs

i agree. it seems that the last few months sound rts is in it's rapid development.
about the sounds ... i
ve downloaded a regular soundpack from:

http://www.bladestorm360.com

and i copied all the sounds wich are in that directory to the pack directory of sound rts. switch to the alternative soundpack and they work ... in my case at least.

but if you've another soundpack wich sounds are much better i eagerly want to know were you've downloaded them. otherwise could you put up a dropbox link? in your playthrough the sounds are very cool.

Hi there.
I've had another look, seems as if the sound rules changed with the alfa of version 1.2 and not with that of the 1.1 rc.
I'll still try and figure out how to adapt my soundpack to work with the latest alfa. Meanwhile:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/351 … 20Pack.zip
This is the pack I used in my walk through.
But I must give credit where credit is due; it's not exactly my own pack, but merely one KeyIsFull made, which I slightly adapted. But most of the sounds comes from his original pack.
Oh and before I forget, remember to replace the style.txt file in the sounds folder with the one in the .zip file.

hi

@bcs

thanks for uploading. i just downloaded it.
i'll try it imidiately with a good crush of my enemy.
and i understand why the credits were gave to keyisfull if most of the sounds are his property.

thanks you both!

Okay I put the soundpack in the new format.  To make it work, first copy the folder to C:\Program Files (x86)\SoundRTS unstable\mods
Now go to your SoundRTS.ini file, which, if you didn't make a user folder, on windows7 is found here:
C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\SoundRTS unstable
In there, go to the line that starts with "mods = " and write the name of the mod, which should be the name of the folder, for example "mods = brendan_soundpack".  The game should then use that mod the next time you start it.  The link is:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/519 … ndpack.zip
I did the same for keyisfull's original soundpack, the link for that one is:

Hi all! Great game in my opinion! Just one question: could it be possible creating completely new units like tanks, airplains, ships? When we create a mod, do we have to use only the units we have in the original game? Thanks.

With the new mods system a mod can have its own rules, AI, key bindings etc.  So basically a mod can add or modify anything, including new units.  If you want I could make something that adds new units to show how it works

Hi Zack! Ok, thanks; it would be super! What version are you using for this kind of modding?
I see in the site there are eather the rC0 and the new alfa version for the new 1.2 major release.
Now i have the RC0, as in this topic.
Thanks a lota.

hi,
where  can I download the walkthrough talked about in  this thread?

A learning experience is one of those things that say, "You know that thing you just did? Don't do that."

hi

@enes

we're talking of the walkthrough of brendan and lauren in their dropbox folder.
for this folder you can sign up at either brendan or lauren, but i think they will give you more instructions about how to do that when they see your reply.

Hi.
You can find it here:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/351 … hrough.mp3
Note: we did this a year or so ago, so I think that's still with one of the late alfas of version 1.9.
Hope that helps.

For some stupid reason sound rts won't install, it gets to the part where it says install button on windows, then it disappears. I can't find it anywaere.
Hmm I think avast has something to do with it.

I'm gone for real :)
