Hello, I am  creating my own irc server! But I got a problem when I try to

connect to it says, my ip address] experienced winsoc error, connection

forcefully rejected. I think i did the configuration right, there are no

errors, I fixed them all...I used example.conf and changed the name to

unrealircd.conf...Could anyone help?

A few

things:
Did you try connecting from a different machine? It might be a

single machine having an error, or it might not like you connecting to it

from the same system.
Is your firewall rejecting the traffic? Either a

software firewall, or a firewall on a router.
It might also help if you

said what software you're using for the IRC server and connecting to

it!!!

Hi,
I tried the firewall its not blocking. I also tried to connect from

another machine. Neither work, it says connection refused.

Oh, I

fixed the problem. The ports on my router needed to be forwarded to my

computer. So, now i got it working so what do I do? How do I get a chanserv

and nickserv on there? How do I get opers? How do i keep channels open?

Those are just a few of the questions I have, so if anyone knows about this

stuff please reply. Thanks.

when i connect it says welcome to ROXnet irc network or something, but thats

not the name i have set in the unrealircd.conf...

Does

the software require a specific name on the config file? Or do you have to

select the file in the software? Normally these sorts of things have a

specific filename which must be used, and this doesn't affect the operation

of the server unless it can't find the file at all. Try setting the file

name back to what it was to begin with, the server name should be collected

from within the file and not the filename.

The

config has to be called unrealircd.conf. How do I use some of the other

features?

I am

not against IRC, not against people helping others with it, so please don't

get that impression, but...uh...this is all being requested by the guy who

was getting upset over MUDs and Sryth? Um...*lol*

Look!

The reason I was upset of muds is because, well it's boring! I guess I

shouldn't whined so much. Anyway please don't make this into a topic like

this! Could someone who knows help me will Unreal IRCD?

No

intention of making an entire topic of it, Mike, just making a statement.

Said statement having been made, and your admission too, I"m satisfied.

I

wish I could help you, but unfortunately I can't. So I'll disappear back

into the woodwork now.

Same as

Jade here, just guessing. Honestly I respect you more for that statement now

though.

Hey,

got another question. How can you write a mirc script that allows you to

minimize/hide it to the system tray?
