Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to mod games, or point me to somewhere on the

net that says how to do it.  It'd be cool to change the theme of audio

games. kinda like that Super Egg Hunt mod Yakir did.  BTW, that was pretty

interesting.  Not exactly my thing, but fun to try out none the

less.

First

you need to know which game you're trying to mod.

It is normal for

statistics and levels to be in files other than the program file, but the

arrangement varies. Coincidentally one of the most modded mainstream games

was Quake, which we have, sort of, in an audio version.

hi,
i've modded for the last 4 months now and i've gotten pretty good at

it.
the only real thing you can do is change sound, you cannot change any

rules, or how you move, or even the layout, but by changing sound you can

make a completely new game.
the soujnd and game file is normally placed in

c:program files.
open the local disk c drive, then open program

files.
after you have done this go to the game file you wish to mod, for

example supershot.
by changing the sounds you can make it a chicken

shootout if you like.
important! the sounds you alter must be replaced by a

same sound type, fortunately most developers use .wav sounds, so you are

free to change them, but some moddable games like tarzan junior do have some

mp3 componants.
delete the sound you want to change, like gun.wav from

supershot,
then select another sound, like the lazer from alien outback.

Copy it to the clipboard and then go back into the supershot file.
Paste in

the laser sound and by pressing the f2 key you can change the name laser to

gun.
games to mod
i would suggest supershot first as there are only a few

sounds that  need modding,
then step up a little and mod super liam1

demo.
then take on tarzan junior, very difficult and a long proccess, but

i've modded mine about fifty times now to make completely different

games.
if you have any problem with anything post your e0-mail address and

i'lll send you some more info on modding.
happy modding.

Hey Archer,

That sounds like it could be really cool.  One question

though, is there a way you could restore the original files so you could

still play the normal game?

I don't have any other questions right now,

but I probably will once I get messing around a bit, so I'll just give you

my e-mail right now.  It's:

MSN/windows messenger...

hi, archer here,
well there is actually, you can do it two ways.
the long

one is open a new folder in c:program files and call it shot.wav or

something.

then before you delete each sound you want to change open the

new folder and paste them in.
then delete the sounds in the original game

file and change them.
or, each time you delete sounds they like everything

else goes straight to the recycle bin, mine is actually full to bursting

with old sounds.
then just press enter on the sound you want to replace and

hit okay when it comes up to restore.

note, make sure the sound you

replaced and renamed like your modded gun sound has been deleted, or else it

will ask you if you want to replace it.
just delete all your modded sounds

and then start replacing.
hth.p.s i'll send you an e-mail later today.best

zip

the sounds up!
assins, i know a much easier way. just zip./rar them up. use

winzip or winrar. in winzip, ya choose "create new zip file" when ya start

the qwizard and click next. then iya choose a name for the sound file such

as "super shot original game". then press enter. then using the buttons,

find the files and folders you want to add and when done click done. i think

that's what the buton is called, it';l;l appear in the my documents

folder, dotn ask me why though. and for win rar im not sure. but i guess it

will either be easier or the same.

Or you

can open the windows file search tool. Point it to the game directory and

tell it to find "*.wav", the * representing all. Then move to the file list,

press control + A to select all and then control + C to copy. Next just make

a folder somewhere and paste them in.

If you zip them up you might be

able to use Winzip's maike self extracting EXE function so you just

navigate to the ile containing the sounds and press enter. This could be

done for the original sounds and any altered sounds you make to make

switching easier.

Copy them all to floppy disks! Just kidding please don't do that. I'm not

just replying for fun I also have a question about modding. I have the

Tarzan Junior and I'd like to change some of the voices and effects. How

pissed off to developers get when you do this. I just think the sounds and

the voices need a little tweaking. What does everyone think?
