I was going about my daily, nightly, some where in between business about a month ago and received an email I thought was spam from a guy who boasted that his earbuds were absolutely marvelous in both feel and sound.  What made them so great?  They don't fall out so easily, they have built-in noise cancelation, and finally, a price tag of $36 with a 100 percent satisfaction garantee.
I'm picky, very picky about sound quality, and though I've found earbuds that sound good, the fit was less than perfect.  So as any curious person on the lookout for some good sounding earphones, I tried them out.  Not only did I buy myself a set.  I took it a step further and got one for my fiance as well.  They arived today on time after a weeks wait, and I kid you all not, were worth every penny I spent on them.  Nevertheless, I figured there would be people who would of course wish to see this for themselves, so paste this address into your browser. http://www.dak.com/reviews/3288storyBB.cfm  I hope this message helps someone out, because the email sure helped me.  I posted this here because it is audio related, though I totally respect the moderators decision to keep it here/take it down at any given moment as my word is not solid proof of anything.  Keep it true!

Its in the off topic room, and its perfectly valid. Sound devices, including ear buds, are as vital to us as screen readers which are often enough discussed in here as well. It isn't directly related to games so off topic room is probably the best place for it, and so long as something isn't offensive or outright spam anything goes really.

Yep, ---- actually i'd like to see a little more ot discussion in here.

I myself have two sets of sanheisar ear buds which I use when I'm out and about and don't want to carry a full sized set of large headphones with me. Good they are, and comfortable, ---- in fact their the best portable options I've found.

Of course, for my desktop, over christmas I replaced my uba sanheisar headphones (which are now ten years old), with a more modern set of 595's, ---- which do sound great, ---- though given the £120 I paid for them (about 200 dollars I think), they really should do.

Well, I believe this is one of those cases where you don't have to pay as much and still obtain something absolutely worth having.  I've not yet dislodged them, nor have I lost that sweetspot that is so hard to find with normal earbuds.  They come with three mold sizes from small to large for personal preference, allowing you to pick and choose what feels best in your ear.  Keep them in as long as you like and they never hurt or become a nuisance.  As for sound quality?  Most earbuds I tend to find which have good quality don't fit very comfortably.  I found a set made by Sony which sounded superb, but hurt after about an hour or so.  The ones that I find which are somewhat comfortable tend to strip some of the quality out of whatever you're listening to.  The sound I'm currently experiencing is ritch in base and spit clear quality.  Something else that was added was an independant volume control.  the wire is extra long, but for the most part I find that I can compensate by clipping the fairly small volume/noise-cancelation panel to my beltloop or possibly my shirt.  Yes, they do come with a small clip, and if you're in need of it, a small drawstring pouch for safekeeping.  No, I'm not being paid to advertise, but I wouldn't take money for it anyway.  I just found them to be quite impressive, and when I do find something of this caliber, I tend to tell the world!

My sanheisar ones also come with a little leather bag, which makes them incredibly portable, ---- I've also never experienced any sort of discomfort with them at all, despite the fact that they're going well down my ears (actually that's the only thing with them, ---- sinse they literally go down into your inner ear, you can't really swap them around with other people).

Sound quality is pretty fantastic, ---- not up to the standard of my big sanheisar headphones, but certainly better than any small pear of earphones I've ever come across. A little heavier on the base tones for my liking, ---- ut certainly not excessively, and I do admit sinse I use headphones for a wide variety of things (including listening to music that ranges from classic to progressive rock), I do need a fairly variable sound system.

Mind if I ask where you tend to get your ear/headphones from Dark? I've tried looking for somewhere online that sells a good choice of sennheiser stuff but haven't had much luck.

Well, as I don't have too much cash to throwing around, I'll settle for mine, though I promise, if I become a millionaire, I'll try buying the ones you are writing about.  Noise cancelation lasts about 24 hours if left on constantly before I start experiencing any major bad sound quality.  One triple A battery will do.  I suppose I'm cheap, whatever...  It works for me, so to each his/her own earphones/buds...

Well for me and Dark living in the UK it'd probably be just as cheap to buy sennhisers from shops over here as pay the shipping and import duties, even on $40 earphones. It'd certainly be a lot less hassle.

If it works for you then there is nothing wrong with it.

In the end, we're all satisfied.  I've actually been looking for a set that I had once, though I doubt I'll ever find them again.  They were headphones meant for computer use, though I used them for everything.  the padding was nice, the sound was equal to that of my stereo speakers, and though they were fairly bulky, I really didn't have much to complain about.  Unfortunately, my brother was the one who acquired them and gave them to me, and six years ago, I could have cared less what brand they were so long as they sounded great.  My mistake.  So long to a great set of headphones.  They broke!

That's another nice thing about sanheisar headphones, ---- all parts of the phrames and wires are replaceable. In fact the only reason I had to buy a new pair was because the amplifyers in my old ones have started to go, ---- not surprising sinse their ten years old.

'm well impressed with the 595's though, ---- even the cable has gold lined connectors to reduce conductivity and electrical hiss.

Sanheisar are just a favourite make of mine, ---- though it's also true they sell things at various prices for various uses. my earbuds from them, ---- which I use when traveling for my laptop or portable Cd player actually cost only £40, ---- that's about sixty five dollars I believe.

generally yes, you do need a pretty specialist hifi place to get such things, --- but it's worth it if your picky about technology. I went to a place called richer sounds, ---- who also supplied my brother with a home cinema system, ---- and even recommended a high colour flatscreen for me.

they don't unfortunately do online orders I believe, ---- but you can check their catalogue and shop locations at http://www.richersounds.com/

Hth.

Btw, no, I am by no means a millionair. The screen was a birthday present from my parents, ---- and the headphones were bought partially with Christmas money.

I am also in the good position that none of my interests or general life style cost large amounts of money to maintain, ---- and i have comparatively few general desires beyond the odd computer game or dvd, ---- so when there is something I need I usually have the savings for it.

Hmm one of the first links was to an online store. I'll give it a deeper look. Thanks.

Hi Dark.  No, I didn't think you were a millionaire, though I did leave it open as a possibility.  Anyway, I got curious enough to check out the brand of earphones you were discussing, but found a brand called Sennheiser, so I'm a bit confused as you typed sanheisar.  Perhaps there are two companies/brands?

Nope, Dark is unashamedly relaxed with his spelling. It is indeed Sennheiser.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to make anyone look bad out here.  Actually I have less than perfect spelling myself, so I impulsively double check everything I write.  In any case, I really was confused.  In any case, I was looking at the prices on some of these earphones, though that will be all I can do for a while, look at the prices.  I'm currently shopping for a keyboard, so can't really aford anything else.  Thanks guys, and congrads on a great site and forum.  It's really been helpful.

Not at all, I believe it is a conscious decision on the part of Dark. He's a philosophy student so he's a little more eccentric than average, and I can't talk myself. You really have to be familiar with him on here to know that, I didn't think you were picking fault at all.

No problem, ---- as for spelling, well if people persist in having irritating weerdly spelled names that aren't phonetic, ---- it's their own fault!

As for keyboards, ----- well computer wise, i'm a big fan of my wireless one which was nicely inexpensive, ----- in fact on the one occasion i tried buying an expensive wireless keyboard it proved an unmitigated desaster, lots of channel switching and pointless extra buttons and functions, ---- not to mention actually having to install a totally inaccessible utility to run the thing, I now just have a simple wireless keyboard which serves my needs extremely well and only cost about twenty five quid.

For music, I stil have a now rather old technics, ---- but it does the job. I have considdered looking into getting a full electric piano with complete sensativity of piano keys pluss useful things like key changing, ---- -rowland actually had a nice one, but those really are! out of my price range barring winning the lottery, publishing a best seller or having a rather successful bank robbery!

Regarding keyboards I still love the natural keyboard. The split makes finding keys pretty easy and they're nice in terms of tactile response. The keys are also pleasantly chunky and reasonably seperated making sightless use pretty simple.

I believe Sennheiser are German, maybe their name is phonetic  in German?

I had a Yamaha DGx 500 for the longest time, but the floppy drive is finally gone.  Besides, with so many inovations in the music industry, I wouldn't mind getting my hands on something a little more realistic sounding.  I didn't before because I really had no need for it.  Now i kind of have an excuse, although I suppose I could send the old one  off and get it fixed.  But if I can get away with it, the new one will totally be the option for me.

Fair enough. I must admit I d want to actually work out enough music tech to actually record some of my compositions.

I must admit Cx2, I personally really dislike split keyboards, sinse the position of my hands on the keys always feels unnatural to me, ---- and I can never tell where various keys are (not to mention the merry hell it can play with games like rail racer which are heavy on the keyboard in put).

Personal preference again though, ---- of course.

I like wireless keyboard primarily for lazy value, ---- particularly as obviosly I only need to be sitting in front of the screen for a few things (in fact quite frequently it's turned off when I'm just doing Hal related things, ---- sinse my computers' plugged into my surround soun system).

Right now I'm lying on my sofa in a very deckident manner, ---- all I need now is a velvet smoking jacket, a large glass of brandy and a cigar, ---- not to actually smoke, just to twirl around in my fingers elligantly as I write speculative articals on the patheticitude of the working classes, ----- lol!
