Uhm
no. Metroid was definitely not a sidescroller. It was more along the lines
of what you'd call a platformer. You had a huge world to explore and a load
of different weapons to collect, areas you couldn't access without
collecting certain items and a lot of jumping from platform to platform to
get where you're going...and did I mention the huge world? The Metroid
series saw you doing a lot of backtracking to old areas each time you
collected a new item because there'd be a place you couldn't get to on
your first visit.
The character in the Metroid games was a bounty
huntress named Samus Aran, who wore a cybernetic suit that gave her inhuman
strength and abilities, such as the ability to transform into a small round
creature that could slip into small passages she could not otherwise enter.
There were other enhancements she could collect which would give her even
more abilities, and of course different guns as well. And let me tell you,
the bosses in these games could actually be quite tricky. That's the kind
of game I want to see. It obviously couldn't be called Metroid but it would
have all the traits that made the Metroid franchise as popular as it is; the
huge world, plenty of items and weapons, challenging bosses and puzzles.
Like I said I was briefly in touch with a guy who was interested in this
project like me but we lost touch after a while and his Email address is no
longer active.
But wait, what's that? A transport! Saved am I! Hark, over here! Hey nonny non, please help!
