Hello,
When I try to setup my gmail account with thunderbird, I enter my email and my passowrd and click netx. Then a page appears and says enter your credentials for your email address. There is the gmail signin page. The problem is that when I click next there to enter my password it doesn't click. The email address field is already filled out. Any control except the language selection doesn't work so I cannot authorize my gmail account with thunderbird on my windows 7 computer. I tried using the NVDA review cursor, moving the mouse and left clicking the button, turning off the browse mode and pressing space and enter on the button but all of those methods refused to work.
Please help. Thanks.

Does NVDA have a pass through option? I've found that on some web pages you have to first hit enter on the button to give it the focus, then turn on pass through so that the next key pressed as passed to the program without being intercepted, then hit enter again.

Or use a text entry field to enter forms mode, then tab to the next button, then hit enter.

Both have worked for me on the few pages that seem to ignore me when I "click" a button.

Hello,
I tried what you said and they don’t work either

In that case, I don't know what to tell you, when I set up Thunderbird for my own GMail account, I don't recall having to authorize it, it just worked.

Did you go into your GMail settings and turn on IMAP and or POP3 access? That's what I did, then I just entered GMail's server information as if it was just your standard email account from an ISP.

fatih,
I tried to set up Thunderbird and got the same error.

I think thunderbird is requiring double authontication of your password.
I found out that it doesn't like my easy to remember password so I had to go to my internet provider and have them send me a new much longer password.

Hmm, that's strange. When I setup mine, it did works. Yes, I do need to authorized it, but it works.

It's been three to four years since I first set up Thunderbird so my memory about it could very well be rather foggy.

The problem is not authorization, rather it is the next ubtton or other controls on the page which appreas not working at all.

Hello,
I updated mozilla thunderbird and it finally worked. Turns out I was using thunderbird version 43.0 or whatever which was way older than the latest version which is 60.2.1.
Thanks for your help anyway.

As part of my system upgrade I had to set up a new copy of Thunderbird on the new system. It was easy, after installing the software, I just copied over the Mozilla and Thunderbird folders from \ProgramData and \Users\<Me>\AppData and it was done. My mail accounts, my settings, my extensions, everthing, and no need to reauthorize Thunderbird to access GMail either.

You've cheated Thunderbird! Oh poor Thunderbird! big_smile
