hi all,
I ergently need an accessible video editing program to trim out an advertisement for a youtube video I used   in a project.  The video in question is a youtube video, so a good accessible youtube downloader would also be welcome. Lastly, instructions on how to trim out the end of the video, where the adverts are located would be nice.

I don't know, windows movie maker, iMovie maybe, I can almost guarantee stuff like Sony Vegas, Adobe Premier, Divincci Resolve, Final Cut Pro and the like will probably not be. Also those are not free programs, so I am not really sure.

you can probably use This piece of software
the only only small bummer is that the browse button when choosing a source file to process is really not accessible but once you know its location you can boookmark it with your mouse utility or whatever and the rest is really a snap to use.
I also use this one when the audio stream of the video is perhaps some uncompressed m4a big file and so what I do is that I would first open up the video into whatever sound editor supports it,  then encode those streams to a still high quality sounding mp3 and then put it back on the video  file which can go down by sometimes as much as some hundreds of megabytes.

Video Win Movie Maker is a good windows solution.  I use it to do  video editing and what not.  Another option is Reaper if you  want to add additional audio.  Reaper can do trimming as well, but not too sure on any other effects for video editing.  However, WIn Movie Maker can do effect adding and video merging, etc.

hi, Reaper does feature a nice and rather varied cast of effects for video, but encoding in windows is for now a pain, so a 5 minute clip can easily end up being a 3 gb or more, file. I am not really sure what needs to go on for it to encoding in a more reduced format like say, Mp4. I think it has to do with the codex you have but moreover even how you have them configured (system wide) and for now its a bit kirky so that is why precisely I steered away from it.
However, if sice is not a problem then by all means go for it.

hi,
Size is in fact a problem, as the video will be burned to a dvd.

I am able to make the video format a little under 500mb for a 5minute file, .  THis is at 1080p HD 30FPS.    THe main thing I do is just change where the video codec used is  the mov/mp4 codec.    You probably know this but thought I'd share it.    Another thing I'd do is just do the editing in Reaper, then drp it into movie maker to reduce the file size.

Just a thought.

could anyone briefly explain how to use the movie maker to do some operations, such as cuts etc?
was very interested in using it, but wanted some guidance.
I'm using the virtual dub mod, not the way I like it, but it's helping me a lot. but I wanted more agility and I think the movie maker would suit me better.
