Hi everyone!
So I'm not sure how many of you were curious about how it was that the Windows sounds were created. So I did a bit of research and found some interesting information.
The first YouTube video is from the Windows 95 start-up sound, which has been slowed down 23 times of its original length. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNIfbdi41ho You can read the video's description to learn about how it was composed.
The sounds for windows 98 and 2000 are similar, and more information about that can be found here. http://mashable.com/2012/10/24/windows- … Kn1KM9ysq3
Windows XP used something a little more interesting. They actually used an orchestra to make the majority of the Windows sounds in XP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGKwx-BFO0E This is not exactly how it sounds, but it does have some similarities.
Finally, Windows vista and Windows 7 used the sounds you'll hear in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nle84et7bWg
If you guys wanna add something, or some ideas, feel free to add to this topic. I was thinking of using Edirol Orchestral to recreate some of these Windows sounds and see how close I can get.
Happy playing!
