Hey all can I still purchase a copy of treasure hunt or not? I tried to go to the BPC programs site but I get a forbiden error message. Anyone know what's going on?

Treasure Hunt was a game from Bpc Programs. You had to stop a scientist called Brutus from completing an experiment, by walking around on a grid, battling against guards, and completing mission objectives such as finding a control panel and such.

How is it that this topic was moved and yet that Introducing mosergame's first title. Need for weed, high pursuit! topic is still in new releases? It doesn't make any sence. Okay it was a joke ha ha, but it's not a real game so can we have that moved now too please?

They might be trying to give it time on that topic simply because of the joke, but who knows. As for treasure hunt, it can't be purchased, and there also can't be a registration patch for it. Reason being that Munawar doesn't have a copy of visual basic 6 installed anymore, so can't modify the game.

Treasure Hunt was converted from VB6 to VB .NET sometime around version 4. I don't know if he still has the source, though. Even if he does, BPCPrograms is gone, so he probably won't be making any changes.

If you have an old key, do you still have the old system that it was registered on? Perhaps you could get the windows product id from that system and replace the one on your current machine with that one. Then you should be able to use your old key to register the game.

I do not because the laptop died sometime ago. I'm running windows 7 64 and the laptop had windows XP.

That's strange that 3d velocity is open-source but not treasure hunt I wonder why? Treasure hunt was a great game, I never had the full version but the demo was awesome! It seems inconsiderate to let treasure hunt die like that, it's a historic audiogame.

No it doesn't tell you the product key. It just asks you your name then asks for your key. The only way you could get the key was to buy the game. And you can't do that now.

Your windows product key was never mentioned. I just know that that's one of the factors that goes into product id generation, not product id in this case is product id for the game. The way you know your windows product key is knowing where it is in the registry. And Munawar said that Treasure Hunt *can't* be decompiled due to not having the language anymore, unfortunately.

I'm not sure, but maybe he meant that he doesn't have the source anymore. If so, then that makes sense. If he didn't have the language, though... Unless all he has access to is the old VB 6 source, then this doesn't make sense. He should still be able to compile the .NET source under the latest Visual Studio, or maybe some work would need to be done to make it work with the latest sound SDKs.
At this point, though, it's probably pointless to speculate, since BPCPrograms has been closed.
