yeah westward is OK, its close to the Apple II version. The DOS version had a bit more control over things. Random events could still get you, but yeah. I don't like random things that just get you and that's it, some of that is OK if its offset with things you can control, either if you have something you need, like medicine if your people get sick.
I like the concept of Paw prints, I have been getting into it a bit, but one thing I don't like is the set number of tasks you can do in one place before you move on. I'm not a fan of the religion system either, I just pick one and go, and well if it works out, it does, and if not, then I probably won't know anyway as stated in the readme. I also would have liked to be able to make things rather than having to find everything. Splints for example, that might be a combination of a bandage (found item) and a stick (item not in the game as far as I know). Paw Prints is far too random for my liking.
What I would like is a modernization of the DOS Oregon trailwith audio version of the mini games, the only one I remember is the hunting, and vaguely. Either that or a game using the story from the DOS version, but made from scratch. Either way, I don't expect anyone to do this, It just would be nice.
