I just tried playing Spoonbill Software's Uno, it started but with the speaking rate running very fast despite that I lowered the rate setting in the control panel. Then I tried reducing the speaking rate with the F8 key while in Uno and it hung the game.

So, I'm uninstalling this is non functional and going back to code Factory's version. I'll suffer with their crappy DRM because it works.

Thanks for the try anyways. Better luck next time.

No, unfortunately, it doesn't. Oh and by the way, it's <pitch absmiddle="5"> like this, if you're using SAPI.

Oh no! Somebody released the h key! Everybody run and hide!

Thanks for sharing this, Jake. that's wonderful. and thanks to those who code this as well.

2016-10-25 04:33:41

if we could have the source for this maybe we could fix it.

2016-10-25 07:04:52 (edited by datajake1999 2016-10-25 17:23:38)

The source code is at http://grossgang.com/tts/sapi_voices/sa … ce-src.zip
I finally figured out how to build it. After building it on my windows XP machine, I tested the build on windows 2000, and it worked, as the older build didn't. I updated the file that I linked to in post 1 with the newer build included.

2016-10-25 18:51:25

so the crashing problems are now fixed?

2016-10-25 19:05:14

nope I just tested it and it still crashes. I'll download the source and take a look.

2016-10-25 21:38:35

Hello. I'm running windows 10 64 bit and I can't find this under both speech control panels. But I do see it with NVDA.

2016-10-25 21:50:37

Does it crash your NVDA like it does mine? It also crashes jaws and lags a bit in audio games.

2016-10-25 23:16:24

Again, why use it in Jaws when you have the built-in eloquence driver?

2016-10-25 23:27:53

also when i tried uninstalling it, it gave unable to unregister various dll files all over the place. and when i play games with it it is laggy and sometimes speech does not keep up.

2016-10-26 01:35:59

I didn't get any problems unregistering DLLs when I uninstalled it, but I did have to go around and clean up after it. It was rather hit and miss whether the uninstaller removed stuff or not. Some things I expected not to be removed by the installer because it didn't create them, they were made by the program itself, but there were plenty of things the installer should have removed but didn't.

2016-10-26 06:25:03

It seemed to keep up well with nvda but did not try games with it. I threw it on my desktop computer which is not my main machine.

2016-10-27 00:30:07

the deal with it's crashing is because it needs a special ini, that I have assembled, for it to work properly. The version I have has the source, but if you want I can remove it from the zip before uploading it. It doesn't lag, it works perfectly, fastest sapi voice I've seen in NVDA. Do be warned though that to install or uninstall it you have to be using an admin command prompt when you run the batch file.

sure, could you put that version up with the ini file it needs? and I'll try it. if worse comes to worse, I can remove it using revo uninstaller 1.95 that is what i used to get rid of the crashing eloq sapi5. but then i had to uninstall and reinstall NVDA afterwards, and then also had to do a repair on my jaws17 because revo did too good of a job. it got rid of eloq sapi5 and then some more stuff on top of that.

2016-10-27 01:43:00

LOL! That's the hazard with programs like Revo, if you get too aggressive with it, it can damage other programs with similar components. In your case, it probably deleted the Eloquence files for both JAWS and NVDA.

I'm sorry to laugh, I know it's not funny, it just struck me because I've had to learn the lesson about being aggressive with Revo myself.

Now, I just do it's standard level scanning, but if I feel the need for some aggressiveness, I manually step through all the files and registry entries it wants to delete before letting it proceed.

2016-10-27 03:39:52

What changes were made in the ini file?

2016-10-27 18:51:12

@coltonhill01 can you put the corrected sapi5 eloquence up, the one that does not crash?

2016-10-28 19:34:06

me too I wonder what ini file we are missing so it does not crash?

2016-10-29 03:26:48

@coltenhill01 could you post the ini file?

be a hero and stop Coppa now!

Hi all, I know this is a bit OT, but, I have Revo v 2.0 something, and It seems to be no longer accessible, even with using the OBJ Nav keys with NVDA. Is there any way to get the latest accessible version? Thanks a lot.

2016-10-30 10:51:14

I added pitch support to the sapi5 eloquence driver.

2016-10-30 20:07:21

does it still crash and give tons of errors when you go to uninstall it?

2016-10-30 21:37:54

Yes. I just added volume support.
