Hi,
Earlier today, someone sent me a free sapi5 version of eloquence.

Wow, awesome! Who made this

2016-10-23 06:51:59

The person who made this wants to remain anonymous.

2016-10-23 07:21:20

That's no surprise, I'd want to remain anonymous too if I was practicing software piracy.

But, this is way cool! I have a legitimate license for SAPI 5 Eloquence, courtesy of Code Factory, now I can have it without their crap DRM.

*$&%(*#&%($ you Code Factory!

To anyone who coded this, thank you in advance!

Awesome. Now I just gotta get my Sapi5 fixed and I'd install it.

Hi Datajake, thanks for that! Is possible to have this voice in other languages, for example italian?
Thanks!

2016-10-23 09:55:06

You can switch languages and voices by using standard eci tags.
For example, to switch to italian, you would type `l5.0.

2016-10-23 11:54:06

Hi Datajake, where I can write this tag? I have to edit the file ini in etc folder?

2016-10-23 13:15:04

Can someone tell me how do I change the pitch of the voice? Thanks lots.

`vb changes the pitch of the voice.

2016-10-23 15:34:50

I am not talking about temporary pitch change, I am talking about the perminent one.

That is one of the things I don't like about SAPI, if all you have to set it up is Windows, the only controls you are given are, which synthesizer to use and the speaking rate.

2016-10-23 16:34:04

I haven't install this, so sorry if I'm wrong. But normally with these sort of things, there's a file called "eci.ini" that accompanies "eci.dll". You should be able to edit necessary options in this file, allowing you can find it.

2016-10-23 16:42:18

There is no real way to change the pitch permanently. Remember, the person who coded this didn't code a utility, in fact not a trace of the software from Code Factory is present in this release, which tells us that whoever coded this coded the sapi implementation by hand. Also, the rate is fast by default, which I personally don't mind, but just keep that in mind, you may want to slow down your rate if you're not comfortable with that rate.

2016-10-23 16:46:14

I can post the c++ source code for the eloquence sapi5 interface if anyone is interested.

@Cartertemm

I don't know if you are wrong or not, but with the advent of the registry, I'd have thought that the SAPI settings would be in there instead of an ini file.

@Jack

Yeah, I had to reduce the rate from the default 50 to 30.

As time goes by, I find I can increase the speaking rate of my screen readers, but I'm not that far yet. You should hear my mental health counselor's JAWS, she has it set as fast as it can go! But then she's been blind for about twenty years now.

Truth be told, Code Factory didn't really add that much, if anything to the settings you could adjust. Their interface was mostly about their DRM for it. Shows where their priorities are.

just for curiosity's sake, does this include any other languages apart from the english? not that I'd use any of them, but just curious
although if it does include the asian languages could use those for games or browsing or something

just a small question. isn't this plane piracy? as far as I know eloquence is a paid software so basicaly this topic is against the forum rules. correct me if I'm wrong.

@mastodont
No it's not. I can't tell you who exactly made this synth, but what I can tell you is that it was made a few years before code factory even thought of making sapi5 eloquence in the first place. I do like eloquence, but I am not afraid to publicly admit that I will not! Spend $75 on a synth, especially with the DRM bullshit that Nuance puts into it.

I'm glad to have this. Like many others here, I own a legitimate license from Code Factory, but don't like their DRM. I also wish there was a way to change parameters such as voice, pitch, etc. Are these stored anywhere at all?

2016-10-23 21:00:22

To change the voice parameters, use standard eci tags. For example, to set the inflection to 100, type `vf100.
