Hi All,

I find myself in the mood for an RPG, so thought I might see if any of the mainstream games were playable. It seems that Final Fantasy XIII is. It seems to be available on PC.

Would anybody who has played this be able to comment on it? As a totally blind gamer, could I get much out of the experience? I've not spent the money yet, but am definitely intrigued.

Hi,
You will need sighted help at points as some of the areas can be really confusing it's quite liniar until you end up getting to Pulse, the game then becomes a free roam.

Thanks for the heads up.

I'm trying to get it via Steam, and the guide on using the service in the Articles room seems out of date. As far as I can tell, the -no-dwrite switch has no effect.

Is anybody able to shed some light on this?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something about the guide, then.

Is the only way to get any info out of the Steam client to repeatedly use the OCR feature, even with this command line switch turned on? I'm using Jaws 17 on Windows 10, and the OCR is only partially helpful.

I'm able to log in without problems, but the Steam window itself seems to be almost totally unusable. The farthest I managed to get was an "Installing Final Fantasy XIII," screen, which had some sort of license agreement. But I couldn't actually agree to it with OCR.

Any advice would be appreciated. Alternatively, are their any other great games playable on Steam?

Yeah, I can't figure out steam anymore either. That guide really is seriously outdated.

This is why I haven't added Skullgirls yet we need new inteland info on STeam itself. Or we al need to campaign or something.

I'm glad it isn't just me. For the moment, I'm wondering if I can maybe refund the Steam purchase and get FF XIII via another method.

Logging in isn't the problem. I'm able to do that just fine. It's the rest of the client I have trouble with. Thanks though.
