I've noticed recently that when I look at a subtopic of this forum, I'm now unable to use my alt left arrow "back" button to get back to the parent forum. Instead I have to scroll to the bottom of the page and use the links seperated by "rightwards arrows" to accomplish this. I'm using the latest release of firefox (44?) and this is very vexing. Why is the back button not working anymore?

I can verify that this is happening for me too. I'm running Windows 7, Firefox 44.0.2, and JAWS 17. But I also figured out that if you hit the left arrow two times, you will go back a page. At least I did when I tried it.

As for why? I suspect that something in the last Firefox update broke something.

Hmm. That's odd. My Firefox is up to date as well, and I'm not seeing any issues here.

Have you guys try chrome?

2016-02-19 07:55:37

I considered trying it but I heard that Chrome wasn't very  accessible.

chrome is fairly accessible with nvda but it gets annoying after a while because when you load a page it keeps saying unknown dozens of times. I wouldn't suggest using it as your main browser, it might make you very pissed off big_smile I talk from my own experience rofl.

@6, I agree with you. but for jaws users, no problem at all.

If that's the case, I might have to give Chrome a try, For me, Firefox wasn't good enough to get me to switch my primary browser from Internet Explorer.

I hope it is resolved soon.

You know, when I posted about this, my back button started working again. Might it have something to do with that whole "get windows 10" icon that keeps popping up? When I got rid of that, I started getting a good deal of jaws cursor accessibility back in a whole bunch of applications

Chrome is out for me for the present, the installer hangs every time I try to run it.

Oh well.

same for me, I noted it in the feedback section and it was fixed for a while, but its cropped up again

Just out of curiosigy, has anyone tried tapping the back twice? For me it's seems to be an easy work around for the problem.

About the chrome installations: Have you download the chrome offline installer. it would helps.

2016-02-20 15:15:26

I've noticed this as well, but as others have said, tapping back twice solve the issue. .
Now if only I could figure out a way to make the windows 10 icon disappear permanently.  Anybody had any luck? smile .

Yeah, the offline installer behaves just the same as the online one does. UAC asks if I want to allow the program to make changes, I respond "Yes", then nothing. When I look in the task manager, there are four instances of the google installer in the processes tab and nothing in the applications tab.

Dan;

If you are referring to the "Get Windows 10" icon in the system tray of the task bar. The easiest way to get rid of it is to go into the "Notifications" app in the control panel and set the options for the "Get Windows 10" notification to not be displayed. If you want to remove it completely, which will make upgrading to Windows 10 for free more difficult, try googling "Remove Get Windows 10". Just hiding it is the preferred method as you can always unhide it if you decide you want to upgrade. Microsoft apparently sets a flag somewhere that they've already sent the "Get Windows 10" app to you because once its removed there appears to be no way to get it back.
