Hi, So I upgraded to windows 10 recently and I use ED sharp for all of my programming. However, I was having issues with narator for some odd reason overwriting jaws and speaking certain commands, such as navigating through tabs, reading the tab key when I pressed it to indent, and a couple other things. I was actually having a couple other issues and it was time so I did a refresh on my computer and I tried to re download ED sharp, but my updated anti virus avast wouldn't let me because it says there is a virus in the program.

So with with as much trouble as ED sharp is giving me, what are some other free or cheep alternatives to using ED sharp. I suppose I could just use notepad, but I do enjoy some of the extra features that ED sharp had, such as being able to open the current file in the command prompt using control \, and how ED sharp handles tabs is very nice also.

I can deal with out these features, I just wanted to see what most people were using that wasn't ED sharp.

I have actually tried notepad ++. I liked it, however it was very irritating when selecting text with jaws because Jaws wouldn't read the text being selected. I used it for quite a while, but I put it down mainly because of that reason.

Hello,

You may be interested in my project: 6pad++, a quite lightweight text editor, programmed in C++ and scriptable in python:

You can download the latest beta at:

I currently use Notepad++, it seems to be a capable editor and it's free.

My personal favorite editor is IDM Corp's Ultra Edit Studio which is their flagship editor, Ultra Edit, built into a development environment or IDE. But the last time I tried it, there was a software conflict  while JAWS is running.

Hi. Does anyone know of a text editor, similar to Notepad++ for Mac OS X?
