OK, cool.
My XP VM has all the cores of my CPU (4.0 GHz) plus 2 GB RAM. In practice more is better, but XP can only use about 3 GB for process memory.
One trick to increase it is to use a RAM disk in XP, and put the kernel in PAE mode. Device drivers may use the added RAM, and you can put temporary files on the RAM disk. But this is a very hairy solution that's likely to go horribly wrong if you aren't careful.
Ok, thanks for the help. I will increase some ram capacity and see what happen though.
To those who use xp on the vm, in windows 10. what are your computer spects? and how size of the ram that you mostly use when install windows xp?
The win98 there doesn't have nvda bundled with it. I was wondering, whether to use xp or 98 to run my civ2 games.
Sure. Just thought I'd give 98 a run in case it saves some ram and such.
How badly stuck are you for RAM, exactly? Going back to Windows 98 will certainly save you RAM, but it's very drastic.
Would NVDA run on Windows 98? I remember having difficulty getting it to run on ME, but I also remember being told that it should work on ME.
It doesn't really matter what operating system you have, basically the faster processer/ram, the less stuttering you'll get. ON the audio side of things, does vmware's creative soundblaster ensonic1371soundcard support stereo mix? I look in recording devices but don't see stereo mix anywhere, but I see stereomix in the volume control. Anyone figured it out?
