Hi,
my a v g anti virus reported to me 2 threats found in the latest scan. the one that worries me is small32.inf as it's in one of my folders that i use regularly. unfortunately it did not move the file to the volt nor did it heal it. i don't know the file name that was infected, but all i know is that it's in a folder that i use regularly. and there's another one i don't know what it is though. but there are 2 threats lurking around and i really could use some sort of help as i don't actually know how to work avg. how risky is small32.inf and what does it do?

small32.inf? inf? an information file? how could that contain a virus... a inf? interesting. people come up with the most sick ways to take over a computer...

2007-10-13 13:38:22

it begins with small win32. that's what i know, i don't know if it's small_win32, small-win32, or smallwin32
so it was my bad really i thought it was small32.inf but it was another thing i'm a little worried avg is scannning now so i will let you all know what happens.

right, here's what i've found so far.
viruses are infecting mortal kombat 4 now. it was never infected before. they are called, win32/small.

Ah, Yes. Win32/Small, A Password Stealing Trojan. Scan with Avast, that will solve your problems.

I had checked out that AV program Ryan when you mentioned it before, while I know you stated it worked well with JFW note you must use visual verification to get it. This is more than a small issue.

Well, cant somebody upload it (like, rs games?) to their server and then have downloads, if thats what ya mean.

It isn't the download that requires visual verification, it is the registration to get more than 60 days from it.

hi guys,
we're getting closer. i've had to delete some zip files, and mortal kombat 4 but i have a backup of that, but i'm getting rid of it. it's spreading though. this war is not over. it looks like it's win32/small vs. me, but ithink i'll win. or is it dad? hehehe. he's helping me out, and so are you. i asked dad about avast antivirus and he says hmm, avg does do what you want it to do, he might look into it i actually doubt it though.

Personally I've discovered the joys of NOD32, though it isn't free and you need to fiddle with the settings to disable their custom graphical layout. Just a radio control to select their custom or windows default but it is hard to get to.

Once you've done that however it is magnificently accessible all around, plus you can set it up to self update for so long as you have the license including whole new versions and not to bother you unless it finds something.

While the Avast scanner window was okay I found the main Avast window entirely inaccessible, at least with JFW 4.5 not sure about more recent versions.

The virus is now gone. avg reports that no threats are found.

2007-10-15 02:42:04

How did you get rid of it Aaron?

2007-10-15 17:16:35

i deleted some zip files thhad it infected in. they only just got infected the other day. now it's gone. so i'm glad.

2007-10-16 03:49:55

Oh. Well at least it's gone...

2007-11-04 08:32:39

I've had two viruses so far but now have none, which is in fact a good thing. they were named trojan horse clicker.don't remember the extention and trojan horse irc backdoor.don't remember that either. which also said something about sdbot 2.0 or somethings. glad the virus is gone, when i got a virus i was being weird, because i wanted to install avast, but i didn't uninstall avg, so it conflicted, and i couldn't uninstall avast either because i chose the wrong link and i downloaded it in bulgarian, which i didn't understand one bit of.
Those are my virus adventures, but they were not very pleasant, i was quite worried.

Strange as I just got 2 trojans today. A month ago I got some trojans too but I was downloading some off beat software so, my bad.  AVG seems pretty good to be free.
