Subject: NVDA Remote Access Released
To: [email protected]

Hi there,

I'm writing to happily inform you that the NVDA Remote Access add-on has
been released!

After our successful crowdfunding campaign, Tyler and I created
something which we are very proud of, and we can't wait until you get to
use it.

The add-on, as well as supporting documentation and source code are all
available from the add-on's website: http://NVDARemote.com

From this point forward, the add-on source code is available for review
and open to contributions from members of the community.

As one of the first demonstrations of crowdfunded accessibility as a
public good, this entire project has been an incredible success. We were
able to raise the necessary funds, develop the software, and are now
super pleased to release it free and open source for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you for all you have done to make this awesome day a reality.

thanks a lot, guys; I'll try! Ok, it works great! But, what about 2 computers in a local network? Do i have to connect to nvdaremote.com as usual? And is this nvdaremote.com just a fake server or is it a real server anywhere in the world?

I entered on this site but where is the download link? I find the link only for campain and no way to get it.

You connect to the address of your computer in your local network. The control server is only for computers outside your network.

Ok guys! It works nicely but... How can I disable the voice on the computer i'm controlling by myself with the othe pc? I mean: when I start sending keys, there are two voices speaking: how to disable the voice of the controlled pc? I've tryed to disable the voice from the menw of the addon but... Nothing seems to happen in that it mutes the voice on the computer I'm using, and not the controlled pc. The only thing I found of some use, was to turn the volume of the controlled machines allway down. Any suggestions? Thanks

You tried pressing NVDA-S to silence speech with the computer you arvirtually controlling?
Or however ya were trying to explaing that?
Keep in mind, which ya know I'm sure, NVDA-S switches between No Speech, Beeps, and Speech.

To disable the speech of the controlled PC, set the synthesizer to no speech.

Hi all!  tspivey, you're just right; I've tryed it just after I've posted the question and that is the solution! The "no sintetizer" option is what I was looking for! Thanks a lot! Bye for now! Claudio1

Hello,
Could I use nvdaremote.com server to control the computer that is not in the same IP of my network?

This is quite a cool addon. I wonder if they got enough funding that they could create a piece of software that could be run on the computer that one wishes to control that would allow it to be controlled without speech..

This would eliminate the need for the person who requires assistance to have NVDA installed. I personally think that would be cool because It's not really usable in a business environment as of yet, since most people aren't going to install NVDA just to get assistance.
This is actually something I was worried about ever since the funding began. Would this truly be something that could be used in a business environment, or something to just help friends when they're having problems? Either way, it's an awesome addon, and I'd like to thank the developers for creating it.

As far as i know, that's what the normal remote access for windows is for.
Or via the use of Serotek's System Access, which works with all screen readers.
The remote part I'm talking about...

2015-07-11 23:54:15

Using fidelophone I am able to send and receive audio from the remote computer and get audio from media players.

So question, is there a way that I can make a control server from this and slap it on my ubuntu server and use my server as a control server for all of my remote access stuff that way? Or is a direct connection the way to go about all of this and hosting it off of my computer that I'm using it on.
