Hello. I downloaded some of the virtual machines that are on winworldpc.com and added a screen reader to each one. I uploaded them to http://grossgang.com/vmware
Windows 98 and windows me have jaws. Windows nt4 and windows 2000 have ibm desktop reader.

IBM desktop reader...that one sounds really obscure. Are you going to eventually make a win 3.1 or win 95 vm with winkline?

Hi.

How do I use the nT 4 VM? When I open it in FUsion, I don't get any sound, and pressing enter does nothing. DO I need to type something in or something to access it? I'm stuck.

or windows 1.0 with screen reader

2015-04-09 04:19:09

For the windows nt4 vm, press ctrl+alt+delete and then enter.

How do I force the vm to power off? My windows 98 vm froze eppicly and I can't get it restored. worse, it happened during the shutdown process.
also how do I transfer stuff from my pc to the vm? shared folders aren't supported in windows98.

To power the vm off, press ctrl+alt, alt+f4, and press the power off button. It won't damage the vm at all. The way I share files between windows 7 and windows 98 is by putting the files I want in an iso image.

@ammericandad2005

You can set up a ftp/web  server on the host OS and use an ftp client/web browser  from within the  guest OS to transfer files.

If you need to transfer an entire folder structure, use an old Windows 98 compatible version of Winzip/Winrar  to pack the folders.

Hi.

On a Mac, is that control option function delete or just delete?

Grab my Adventure at C: stages Right here.

2015-04-09 16:12:43

I think it is ctrl+option+delete.

2015-04-09 18:08:42

thanks. I was wondering that ever since hard disk mode was removed in VMware player. hard disk mode allowed the vm to be used as a disk drive.

on the mac it is fnd+control+option++delete

2015-04-09 19:53:35

Is there a way to have ctrl+alt+del pass through to the vm? I had to use the menu option to do it in nt.
also, do you know the controls for desktop reader? Could you at least show me the basic controls like keyboard help, say all, go to prefferences etc?

Did you press ctrl+g before you pressed ctrl+alt+del?
Also, What is the menu option you are talking about.
Sadly I don't know the commands for ibm desktop reader. Ibm desktop reader was bundled with ibm homepage reader.

2015-04-09 22:43:27

I did, but it ended up doing it on the hoast as well.
THe menu option is "send ctrl+alt+del" in player menu.
I tried to get to hpr's help, but I can't navigate it with IE with IBM desktop reader. and HPR itself doesn't want to run for some reason although that may be because DTR was running at the time.
I like how it uses midi files for the sound effects. I might do an hpr sound scheme changing them to midis of atari2600 and Magnavox odyssey sounds.

Hello, I have a little problem over here with the windows 98 machine.
I have downloaded the machine and booted it up in VM Ware. After that,I pressed ctrl and g to get the keyboard focus on the machine.
But no sound comes up in the machine. What do I need to do to start the machine in a correct way?
Greetings Moritz.

on the machine, jaws boots up automaticly after about 30 seconds (doubles to a minute if scandisk has to be run due to improper shutdown).

Ibm homepage and desktop reader? two very interesting old pieces of abandonware. I wonder, on that server there is a fun with keynote gold thingy with a windows 98 vm with keysoft and keynote gold. I wonder if anyone could put that vm on the server, as those old versions of keysoft and keynote gold interest me; I collect abandonware.

he used the same vm that's on the server, keynote gold can be found on the server as well. the easiest way to get it on there is to either use infrarecorder to burn it to an iso image and make that the default iso for the cd drive in VMware, or download it in the vm itself.

I'm planning to put Jaws on XP.  I was going to connect a drive to the host system and access my NVDA that way.  Can this be done?

Best Regards,

Luke

What game will hadi.gsf want to play next?

2015-04-14 00:50:17

I think that is possible. before starting XP, it will look for installed USB devices and give you the opportunity to install them into the guest OS.

I uploaded a windows 95 vm with window eyes 2.0 and sound drivers in it.
The virtual bns is also included.
The reason I had to use the virtual bns was so I could get speech during the sound blaster installation.

2015-06-15 18:23:32

it uses the bns? how did you get we 2.0? is it a demo?
