Well, how about that! and what a fun event it was! Thank ya much for it Aprone, it was a blast! And even though ros didn't get to contribute physically, due to recovering from surgery, I played her char back and forth with mine, so we could both contribute. Rock on, and thanks again from both of us... and of course the big black doggie who had to hear all the growls and splatters!

fantastic that we did it! wish i was online at the time. so what are you coding as the prise?

2018-05-26 21:26:05

Darren I probably shouldn't say, just in case I'm not able to get it to work as I want.  It is something that I personally believe will add a ton of fun to the game though.

It's going to be swamp tide. Just think about it. Kill a million zombies? Be come a zombie. How cool is that? Not only would it make the game so much more fun, I'd be up on that for sure. I can't wait to pound on people as a tyrant, or bite at your faces as a dire/canine, or even seductively lure you in, and eat you up as a stalker. Lol.

I've been customizing the keyconfig.ini file to make the game more enjoyable to play on my GPD Win. Once it's done, I will share it on here if people are interested. I can now do a lot of things using the joysticks, D-pad and the A, B, X, and Y buttons.

Aprone, can you please add the mouse scroll wheel to Swamp? My left joystick is currently useless and I'd like to push it up or down to do something like cycle through weapons. This joystick emulates the scroll wheel in mouse mode.

the game stil insists on erorr52 bad file name or number.
I am certain that it has to do with the inability to register some much needd files.
so i'll be looking in to this, and, once resolved, i'll post a solution here.
It is mildly frustrating that windows10 is being iffy about this.
if some one did manage to stumble on a solution, do let me know.
If not, i'll post back, once i've resolved this.

Are you using the swamp executable that came with the patch or an older executable? It did that with me too with the old version, no matter what I do it said “Runtime Error 52: Bad file name or number.”
Try getting the patch and replacing the old executable and try again. If that doesn’t work, let me know.
I also have Win10, I might be able to help with it.

sounds good aprone. hey maybe you should combine all the maps together into 1 massive map lol. i sort of like the sound of that.

Hey Aprone, I've got some of those SCS bugs for you.
This was on 3.5, so not sure if the latest version changes it at all.
You know how on occasion someone will report the input becoming unresponsive, other than escape?
There's a spot where this happens pretty often in this campaign, so I decided to save at a few key spots to try and narrow down the cause.
In this case, I was getting an issue where med kits were spawning way more often than I expected based on the script, and the lockup would happen within a few minutes of that. It's happened under other conditions as well. I want ot remember getting it on a multi1 campaign at some point, but it's entirely possible I'm remembering wrong and it's just on custom maps.
Here's the debuglog when it broke, and a few saves, before and after the storm-o-kits. IIRC the one with "postkits" in the filename is the last one. I had time to walk around the city portion of the map before it broke (I was in the tunnel between the city and the factory, but I don't think that is important).
https://www.sendspace.com/file/li8rbz
I included the current version of the campaign as well, although IIUC the save includes all of that, too?
The only modification made to the map was opening the gate from the temple.
I know you're busy with the Million Zombie Prize, and probably a dozen other things, so there's no rush to untangle this smile. I thought it might be helpful to try and catch the bug in the act, so to speak.

I just tried the Future map, and whenever I'd try to go down the outpost stairs, it would be hit with so much lag as to be effectively frozen.

Definitely excited to see what this update will bring for sure. I'm yet another player who'd kill to have Swamp Tide back. I'm not sure how you'd do it, but it could be cool to have certain things that could act as upgrades for Tide or a future mission that you'd get from playing the game. There's *A LOT!* of potential with this game, actually. You could have rescue missions where you'd have to both rescue a group of survivor's and escort them back to the main maps. Maybe you could have some what of repair mission where you'd have to find parts to a vehicle that you could use to get you back. Basically I'd love to see some new zombies and new co-opp multipart missions. Even if 1 of these things was looked at, I'd be happy to actually sit down and flesh out a detailed plan on how this would actually go.

Hi.
I'm so impressed that we reached 1000000 kills. I wasn't online at the time it happened, but I was quite active helping by killing a lot of zombies. I look very much forward to see what price we get.

Best regards SLJ.

Update: the game-breakingly extreme lag I mentioned shows up only when one of my coordinates is less than 12. I haven't tested it much beyond that, but it appears to do the same when I start Fyquest (several seconds for a single step, but if I press enter and get sent to the middle of the map, the problem goes away). IDK if this happens in multiplayer or on the multiplayer maps.
The reason I first noticed it on the Future map is because of the staircase going past x=12, but I noticed I was getting it even on the west end of the roof.  After starting from a random position, I found that if I went to y<12, the same thing happened. Haven't found any other issues beyond the game running impossibly slow at either extreme. This doesn't happen on the eastern or southern map borders.
I think I have graphics enabled. The best I can think of is that maybe the new graphics optimizations break when the edges of the visible area go into the negatives, and this hasn't been mentioned before because most people don't play with the graphics (and presumably this either doesn't happen in multiplayer or none of them have tried switching maps via "To travel west, press enter"). But that's just a guess. Anyone else playing with graphics enabled who has gone to the west or north edges of a map without this problem?

CAE, thanks for narrowing down when that lag happens for you.  I'll try to remember to run some tests, and see if I can recreate the lag on my machine.  If I can, then I'll be able to figure out the cause and correct it in the next update.

Okay, can someone please post a DB link to the latest zip, preferably with the patch included? Aprone's server seriously has issues, tried downloading it three times and all three times the damn thing times out at about 500+ meg, never getting to 600.

Thanks.

@aprone cae's bug hapens only if the graphix are enabled, in any map. the game just get slow if you  go to that map corner.

Wow, nice job guys.  1 million is crazy, and like Aprone said with five days to spare.  Sadly I couldn’t be part of it.   I was having some of the same connection issues others were having, and once I got it going I got busy,  but is all good. I’m sure you guys had a blast.   Looking forward to finding out what the reward is.  You all take care. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Hi.
I have put together a working copy with the patch included. Aprone: May I offer a stable download for this file? People are constantly having issues downloading the game from your website.

Unless that's a DB Pro account, it won't stay stable for very long...
I agree that it's an issue though... A pretty big one in fact.
Maybe Aprone can put a link to "FDM" near the download link with a small warning about the problem?
I'd suggest the agarchive just because it looks safer and more stable than a DB, Sync, or sendspace link but they don't have enough bandwidth to be getting that many large downloads.
Maybe Github? It works well for TDV2...

2018-05-29 13:45:35

I have gotten large files from DB before without any issues and I do not have a pro account, wonder if it's windows?  I'm using a mac.

2018-05-29 13:48:41

No, it's a traffic limitation that's the problem. Since this file isn't big enough to fill up even a free account...

2018-05-29 16:23:01

SLJ, you are more than welcome to host your own link for download.  I appreciate people coming in to help, especially since no matter how many times I've sat on the phone complaining to tech support, they never seem to keep my download link working for long.  They've had a few different excuses, so I'm not sure which one is their real excuse.

I've looked into having a separate service to host that particular file, but it really seems like a nut-punch to be paying for my normal web hosting package and then pay monthly for a completely separate one just to hold 1 file.  I probably need to do it though, because it's been how many years and this issue still keeps popping up.

Agarchive.net has always had and will continue to have a copy of Swamp available for unofficial download. I make no promises about its being listed as part of the site (because we don't generally host mostly multiplayer games), but providing a stable source for games is our mission, and helping people get access to Swamp is part of that.
If there is a full update to 3.7 (or 3.8 in the future) where the whole archive has been modified, (or if there has been one and I've already missed it) please just get in touch via the contact page, and the archive's copy will be updated.
Bandwidth shouldn't be an issue. If it does become one (I suspect we'd have to transmit thousands of copies of the game for that to happen) I'll find additional ways to make a stable download available. One immediate option being my personal site, which also has unlimited bandwidth available and virtually zero traffic.
A current link to the archive's download is:
https://agarchive.net/games/aprone/swamp3.5.7z
File size is 447m (7zip is very good at saving bandwidth as well).

@Aprone:
Feel free to link to agarchive.net's copy from your site. If we run into any problems, the community can add stable (non file sharing site) mirrors until they go away.
