Hello guys,
As you all know, there are a lot of dictionaries, free or paid, on the market. The most important question, when it comes to software, however, is the accessibility.
So, I for example got QuickDic, a free dictionary for searching for German/English words. Even though it sometimes displays wrong translations, it is quite accessible.
So, I am actually searching for a dictionary software for Latin, which is accessible (shouldn't be too expensive if it is paid), but depending on how this dictionary looks like, I would even pay for it. Any suggestions?
Vale eg Gratias.

Best regards,
Patrick.

I was thinking of the same thing. I was thinking it could have a list of all the words in alphabetical order, and then there could be tabs for the thesaurus, the classmates, and the confusables, sort of like the Franklin language master, except that this would allow you to scroll through the words like in a list view, and press enter or F6 to view its contents. It could help you find unusual words to impress your friends as long as you know how to use it in grammar and in context.

Or at least a software where you can type the word you are searching for in, so it shows some word examples.

Have you tried Microsoft Works? I think they might have an accessible dictionary. I remembered trying it back in 2010.

It's actually like using Microsoft Office, but I think Microsoft Works is supposed to be slightly different. Here, I think this might help you. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Works
According to the article, Microsoft Works is now discontinued. This is because it didn't ha as much features as Office or other major suites. Therefore, it was less expensive, but in either case you have to buy them separately.

Hi peeps.
I think I've got something for you paddy.
It is no software, but a webbsite, where you can type in the word, and the site tells you what the word means, in witch tence it is, and a few more nice things.
The website is only in german, but that could be wrong, due to the fact that I haven't explored the whole site yet.
The name of the site is.

When I find out something new about it, I'll let you guys know.

Here is a software Latin dictionary. It is command line based; you can type a word (any declension/conjugation) and it will produce a list  of words with meanings and metadata (declension, case, etc.). You can also enter English words and it will return words that match. I used it extensively when taking Latin in college/high school and found it very useful if a bit confusing sometimes due to the large amount of words returned sometimes. Here is a DB link in my public folder:

Thank you very much, I will check it out.
Even though our Latin course is based on German, I'm pretty sure it helps me and others who deal with the English translation. And as long as it is accessible, it's no problem for me.
If you don't mind, I'll give this link to my Latin teacher so he can take a look at this software for himself.

Thanks in advance! big_smile

Sharing it with anyone is fine with me. I'll leave it up for anyone who wants it since the official link seems to be down.
