Hello,

I want to share files and folders with friends whitout the limitation of dropbox.
I read about btsync but si it good for what I want:
I want to send special links to friends so they can download files from my pc.

So, what is good on btsync and are there better alternatives?

Regards

Try syncthing. It is a lot more accessible because it uses standard webpages for its interface. http://syncthing.net/

Hi,

Thanks for your response.
I will try syncthing.
Because btsync is not accessible I tried it and the installations is already a problem;

What are the good features of syncthing?

read the website. It'll do a better job of explaining.

So is the new version of BT Sync accessible?
I've been wondering about that ever since I heard that they did a major overhaul of it about a month or so ago. Due to a lot of things going on recently, I haven't had the time or the inclination to upgrade, and I figured I'd ask before doing so. I plan to use it to share a rather large music folder with a friend pretty soon.

The glass is neither half empty nor half full. It's just holding half the amount it can potentially hold.

Whether it's accessible or not, there's an NVDA add-on which makes it accessible.

@roro

Short anser, no.

The latest version is not accessible.

Another Audiogames user reported it's not accessible.

So you better stick with the older version.

Haven't tried the new version. But from my experience, v1.3.6 or whatever it's called, is completely accessible with NVDA once you've installed its add-on.

Ok, thanks.
I was asking because I wondered if you could still use the old version. Sometimes, older versions of programs, particularly ones that depend on a network connection, no longer work.
So am I understanding you correctly that the older version will continue to work? From what I heard, they completely redesigned the structure of secret keys and how they work. You now use url's instead of keys. So if you generate a secret key, will it still function the way it always did?

the last accessable is 1.3.0.9.
1.4 is not accessable I tried it, and had to delete my entire sync database, I then had to get and put in all my keys, then I had to index all my data.
Btt sync is not inaccessible so long as you don't close its property page.
I have never used sync thing but if 1.4 ever stauys the way it is then I may have no choice but to upgrade to this.
however I don't want to redownload my 20 + gb of data just for a new client.

@turtlepower
Older versions are still functional.

So just keep 1.3.6 and don't worry.

Of course, teaming up with users of 1.4  is not possible.

There may be a way to use BTSync in CLI mode under Linux.

But if you are already into Linux, an opensource alternative or a online cloud is better.

Thanks.
No, I'm not a Linux user, but as long as the person I want to share a key with and I are using the same version, it should be alright.

And SyncThing? How is it? I'd better arm myself.

Just myself, as usual.
