these are images of faces: angry faces, surprised faces and happy faces.
in some folders there are another folders, and in some folders there are faces without folder inside it.
it is an zip or wrar file, so you must extract it and put in the documents folder.
try it with the EM which i uploaded, and also please if you can, try it with the VOIce.
i want to know how it working with your program.
so here is the link:

Hi, know this is way off topic, but how do you create topics? Need to know, as soon as possible!

Rory, look at the links above the list of topics. There should be a "post new topic" link, somewhere around the first heading (above it, I think).

If the EyeMusic is what I remember listening to a few months ago, then I had two main problems with the examples I heard: the lack of stereo, and the tempo. I assume the tempo is adjustable (I hope, anyway). Stereo should be, too, IMO (I can understand why some users would prefer mono--hearing loss in one ear, hardware issues, etc--but if stereo is an option, it seems just plain necessary if you're going for vision substitution).

Hi kamochek,

> i launched the VOIce and understood nothing.

That is very strange, because you already know EyeMusic? Try something simple such as your white cane on a dark background. There is a plain text mini-tutorial for The vOICe at the URL

http://www.seeingwithsound.com/intro.txt

Also, there are number of linked soundscape samples on The vOICe training web page

http://www.seeingwithsound.com/manual/T … Manual.htm

Much of this should be easy for you if you are already familiar with EyeMusic.

That's right, The vOICe does not need any installation, it just runs as voice.exe from where you saved the executable. It can be downloaded directly from http://www.seeingwithsound.com/voice.exe and upon launch it automatically detects a connected camera (webcam) and starts sounding the live camera view. That's all.

After running The vOICe at least once you can also start it via the keyboard shortcut Control Alt V.

About your face images you say:

In The vOICe program press Control O to get a file requester, and use that to load any of your JPEG images. You can also select multiple images to cycle through to better hear the differences. You can zoom in by pressing function key F4 and then move around with the arrow keys. Press F5 for negative video. If you are not used to the default foveal view of The vOICe, you might want to toggle it off by pressing Shift Alt F4.

Regards,

Peter

Hi all,

I have used both eye-music and the vOICe. The short analysis is as follows.
1. The eye-music is good for getting a snapshot of the colors of an object.
2. It does not get as detailed an image as the vOICe.
3. The vOICe gives a high amount of detail including texture information.
4. eye-music does not give any texture information.
5. The vOICe can speak the color of an object but does not combine vision and color information. Color names are spoken though.

Thank you, kamochek, that clarifies the situation. The vOICe is designed for independent use by blind people, only assuming that they use a screen reader. So if you can independently operate your PC you can also independently use The vOICe based on the information from my previous post.

Peter
