Garr! and just when yee thought we were out of pirates,  we has more! garrr!
Not  to mention Bounty hunters, smugglers, traders and less than friendly alien tigers.

To be a little less cryptic, Smugglers 5 invasion, the biggerbadder and more alien sequel to the popular Smugglers 5 has just been released.

for those who aren't aware, the smugglers series by NielsBauer games are a set of  space themed stratogy games set in a warring galaxy. Fight in an ongoing galactic war, trade goods either legal or illegal or become a pirate to prey on fat merchant ships. Help your own side or create your own pirate faction and become emperor of the galaxy. Though the series was never intended to be accessible,  after Smugglers 3 proved to be  playable, considderable work went into the interface. Though it's still necessary to use a  virtual curser to navigate and click on objects, this shouldn't be a problem with most screen readers, (for a guide on doing this with NVDa see here.

Smugglers 5 invasion is set after the end of the cessession war seen in the original Smugglers 5 and in previous smugglers games. The  mighty Federation, based around earth succeeded in bringing the  Outer Rim and coalition under their sway, decisively winning the war. The suspicions however that the syndicate were using alien technology proved very true as the Federation came into conflict with the jaukath, a fiersom alien race similar in  appearance (and indeed in  temprament), to tigers.

Relations between the  Federation and the Jaukath empire rapidly deteriorated,  and now once again the Federation is at war.

In smugglers 5 invasion therefore, there are only two factions, The Federation and the Uakat Jaukath, however their playing styles are extremely different, as are the ships they recieve. In addition, you can explore a hole galaxy with new stories at each planet and 6 aditional Jaukath star systems added to the initial map.

Other changes include a new random skill selection system in combat (which makes matters considderably trickier than in Smugglers 5),  quests and events as you make your way around the galaxy, and even the possibility to capture and pilot a massive   carrier, larger and more powerful even than a battleship.

Smugglers 5 invasion costs 10 Usd, and you can find out more about the game here on the Nielsbauer site.

Smugglers 5 Invasion also offers an all new bonus.  It is planned that  extra events and quest will be available to buy for the game as Downloadable content (dlc). The first of these, entitled aftermath can be bought along with the game for 4 usd and provides an extra quest when you get a cruser class starship. You can also preorder the second, entitled Background stories for 7 usd, which is intended as a far longer set of  events and quests and will even add some new ships to the game and should be released in May or June of this year.

If you have access to steam, you can give the project a green light which will help development and also get the game out to more people, go Here on steam

And finally of course, any questions or comments about the game, we have This topic

Happy Smuggling.

With our dreaming and singing, Ceaseless and sorrowless we! The glory about us clinging Of the glorious futures we see,
Our souls with high music ringing; O men! It must ever be
That we dwell in our dreaming and singing, A little apart from ye. (Arthur O'Shaughnessy 1873.)
