Because I'm surprised we haven't had one of these yet, especially on a site devoted to sound.

The following poster provides a link and the next gives a score and a thought or two about it, usually 1/10 scale. It can be from any source, soundtrack to pop to chiptune to whatever.

it shall get a 3 for this song.

2013-07-14 01:19:21

OK, so @boarder1 didn't give a link, so I'll just rate the one from @darkabomination.

Score: 7 out of 10.  It would be 8 or 9 if the lyrics were clearer.  However, it did get me to add a new band to my collection on rdio; it isn't the best music I've ever heard, but oh how I love novelty and unusual songs.  Thanks to digital downloads, we now have novelty and unusual bands! Yay!

OK, this is the link for the next poster:
http://thedoubleclicks.bandcamp.com/tra … d-freebird
Note: you don't have to buy it!  There is a clicky play thing directly above where it says the time. Unfortunately it's not labeled, at least in NVDA and Firefox. It just says clickable. But you get to hear the entire song.  Is her voice not the most strangely adorkable thing ever?  This has been stuck in my head for like 2 days now.

2013-07-14 04:35:43

Oh, adorkable indeed. 7/10

Also, the link I gave isn't ZaTS best, it's one of their early releases. To get an idea of their later sound, check out their cover of Monster Mash.

Anyway, here's my next song:

2013-07-14 07:37:02

Yeah the song gets 8/10
And I hope that you would like to hear the next song:

2013-07-14 15:21:37

@border1: I give it 5/10.  I don't really like dance music, and I like dance remixes even less.  But I was amused that the DJ guy said that song is huge in America.  I don't know any American who has ever heard of it!  So there is that.

@darkabomination: Yay! I own a copy of that album.  Voltaire is interesting. Have you heard any of the early startrek stuff?

Please include a discussion of what this song is about with your rating.  Inquiring minds want to know.

Hi,
This one gets a 7, mostly for the quirkeyness. Loving the synth riff. Voice is funny too!

@aaron: I'm afraid I disliked everything about this song!  Seriously, what's with the autotune?  Autotune needs to die in a fire.  If you can't sing, don't become a singer.  Also, why was that sooooooooo long? I thought the horror would never end!  score: 0/10

Link for the next person:

I felt bad giving out a 0 rating, so I thought I'd make sure the person under me had to give me a 0 rating in return.  This is, quite literally, the only thing worse than Aaron's offering that I could come up with.  Remember: you don't have to buy it. There is a clicky play link above the time display, and below the share/embed thing.

Hi,
It's a 9. Oh, and regarding my previous offering... I agree about the auto tune, although, this is a vocaloid. Even so, happy synthesizer is autotuned way too much, and to be honest, it's not what I regularly listen to at all.
And as for fastfinge's? wow, that's definitely a 0.

@darkabomination: Another cool song about death!  Go you!  Another band added to my rdio collection.  Score: 8/10, even though I know I don't have to give you a rating.

@aaron: That was a synth singing that?  That...kind of explains it.  Doesn't actually make it any better to listen to, but perhaps my rating should be changed to 2/10, just for being good enough to fool me into thinking it was an actual person singing.  I think the song being in Japanese threw me; I had never heard Japanese spoken or sung, either by a person or computer.  So I really had nothing to go on.

Isn't that song I linked to amazing?  You can buy it...on an actual record.  Along with 6 other songs done by that same girl group.  I...don't know why.  I guess they're our generation's version of The Shags.  I listened to the entire album once or twice, just trying to figure out if they're serious, or if it's some kind of massive trolling of the musical community, or what.  I didn't come to any conclusion.  I also did not have, can you guess? Can you guess? Can you guess?  Either a fun time, or a great time.

OK, now for your score: 6/10.  I don't normally love video game music, but I must admit, this was pretty epic.  Also, it didn't involve much terrible singing, wasn't some techno pop sensation, and wasn't...whatever the heck I posted.  Unfortunately, it also wasn't about dead people, or anything else interesting and/or neat.  Congrats, though, for being the first person to post something game related!  We're on the audio games forum, so I'm kind of surprised it took this long.

Now, the link for the next guy:

Don't worry, I couldn't find anything worse than my last offering, even if I tried! So I didn't try.  This is pretty normal, all things considered.

2013-07-18 22:03:37

Ah, good ol' filk. 7/10.

And I'm a fan of good horror and nerdy music, so yeah.

Here's another song. It's a remix of Cut Man's stage from Mega Man 1. This is from the Chiptuned Rockman album by Capcom and Inti Creates. Here you go.

Let me know how you like it, and let me know if you'd like to hear more from this.

Eh, pretty decent chiptune, 7/10.

Oh, and thanks for necroviving my thread, I was about to get to it as I thought it was a decent idea.

7/10. Pretty great prog metal.

Even if you don't know a word of Japanese or Latin, it's still a pretty badass battle theme:

I am apparently now a part of this... weird... thing. This probably means by the time we're done everyone wll have lost their hearing... Lol!
ANyway, 4/10. Don't really listen to this kind of music, the chorus was OK, but during the verses I think the guy can't really sing.
and here's my link
It's kind of video game related as well, so yay. It/s the song that's currently stuck in my head, for 2 days now.

<Insert passage from "The Book Of Chrome" here>

Pretty cool stuff, 8/10.

Since Mario neglected to give you a score, I'd give it 8/10, I loves me some good a capella.

This one helps if you know the original tune as it's a remix, but still a great chiptune nonetheless:

Nice one. I like it! 9/10 for that one!

Here is another one for you. This song is an original made by Chibi-Tech for the FamiCompo Mini Vol. 10. She called this one "Love is Insecurable"
