Hi,
I've created another small application which I now want to present you.
It is called AgeQuick and is designed to quickly get a persons age.
To success, it needs to know the persons birth year, for example, 1996, like mine is.
You can get more information about it's usage by checking out the included html documentation or running the audio manual application which is also included in the archive.
It can be found under AgeQuick directory\manual\AudioManual\audiomanual.exe
If you want to know my opinion, I like the audio manual program more than the html version, but that's up to you.

You can download AgeQuick here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/51474736/AgeQuick.zip

O, another important information.
The program is open source, but I've not included the sourcecode into the archive because, at least I think so, not everyone wants to read it. If you want to tough, please click the link inside the html manual to download the full AgeQuick sourcecode archive.

Known bugs
-The audio manual application doesn't contain any "exit" item, you should press escape to quit it, I forgot to add the exit item.
-The audio manual application doesn't play any sounds on enter or escape press for some strange reasons, tough I told it to do.

Hope this problem doesn't affect the enjoyability of AgeQuick and the audio manual application that much.

So, that's enough speaking, I think.
Have fun and enjoy!

In order to have the true full sourcecode archive, you need the following include file created by me, because I forgot to put it into the source archive:

You should make it calculate the number of days (for example I'd put in August 15, 1934), and it would tell me how many days, weeks, months, years, a person would have been alive for.

Hi gamefighter,
You're awesome! I was in need of such a program to calculate my age, but I still don't know what to believe. I born in 1999, and my birth day is at September 19th. It says that I am 13 years old. I think I will be 13 in september. I really don't know what to believe... big_smile. I have a question about the audio manual: How did you this eloquence? I really want to do that! I had a sapi 4, but it's quality is bad. But american english would be better. But anyway, it is your opinion! Keep up the good work!

Hi Burak,

1. You can really belife the program, because it calculated my age just right as I tested it.
2. The eloquence was done with stereomix. I entered the text into notepad and let eloquence speak it. This was recorded with audacity with the stereomix setting.
3. I'l definitely work on it once I finished my other project I want to finish before.
O, then there's TargetShot I've to work on... But, I'l make several changes to AgeQuick, sure.

Hi,
Then you recorded it great, because it didn't say alt tab or anything. How can I do that?

Hi Burak,

Do the following:
1. Open up audacity and press r
2. Alt tab to the notepad window you previously opened and entered your text in.
3. Press control home to set the focus to the beginning of the text.
4. If it's just one line of text you wanted to record, press up or down arrow key to read it out, otherwise press insert+down.
5. Go to audacity and press space
6. Press home to set the cursor to the beginning of the recording.
Remove all stuff which is before the text you're wanting to have in your clip.
7. Remove all stuff going after it by pressing shift+a and the delete key.
8. Now save your file somewere, of curse by exporting it to any type of sound file you want rather than just saving it as *.aup project. :-)

Burak,

if you're in trouble about your birthday, think about three things.
1.  The current year.  it's 2012, have you had a birthday yet?  No.  it hasn't reached september.
2.  from 1999 to 2011, how many years is that?
3.  If you really want to know how old, how many months until your next birthday?  just over three.

Anyway, little off topic I know, but, gamefighter, you should also make it be able to calculate the days (converted into year/month/week), to a different date.  for instance, september 19, 2012.  How many days is that?  it turns out it is 3 months, 1 week, 6 days.  tongue.  but it would be neat to be able to calculate from like now until December 21st.  or from now until may 15th, 2434.

Hi Malloc,

I'll do this definitely.
But:
1. There's another project I want to finish before continue working on AgeQuick
2. Unfordonately, I don't know how to perform such a calculation. Once I know this, I can modify the calculation functions like you said.
