As long as Jade remains a moderator,no idea how that extremist got that position, I will not be on this forum. Just letting you guys know. Sorry, but I don't feel that a forum without sensible people such as Aprone and with, unfortunately politically involved people such as Jade is a platform that'll treat people fairly. I might be judging too harschly, but considering what Jade has expressed in recent topics, I feel that he is not suited for this position.
With that being said, I'm not going to hold back. I hope Jade removes himself and that this forum restores itself to sanity.

meh, these kinds of topics are getting old

you can't run from the darkness. we are everywhere.

fully agreed, post 2. They are rather pointless an unnecessary... people should just live and learn, or better start something of their own if they are so displeased, the situation that was of utmost concern got resolved. Some people were OK with the outcome, some that still have no clue how to properly argue and were not satisfied prop up dull posts from time to time, and that's it. But whatever the case, its just done, period. Time to move on and keep on working or gaming, or whatever, as the other 98% is doing.

I am posting here to declare my intention to stick around. I'm not going anyplace.

I'm not going to let any "extremist" ideologies get in the way of my work here. Yes, I'm a leftist, a socialist, an anti-capitalist and a supporter of the NDP here in Canada. This doesn't mean I'm going to ban you or harass you if you're right-wing or are a staunchly religious person. It doesn't mean I'm going to use my status to plague you. it does mean i'm going to follow the rules, uphold every user's right to equal treatment and do my level best to right the mistakes of the past, my own most definitely included.

I'm sorry you don't like that, and feel the need to leave, but there's not much more I can do for you. I hope you have better luck elsewhere.

If you behave in a way that doesn't require moderation, it hardly matters who is or isn't a mod.

See ya later London.
I personally really agree with the choice of Jayde as a moderator.
His first couple days were. Let's be honest. A complete disaster. But he proved that he can listen to criticism and really turn it around.

Unfortunately Griff, I've just read the new proposed rules, and one of them is so vague and open to abuse that no one could ever hope to abide by it because they don't know what it is. It's number 10, and it was written by Jade. That Jade is already functioning as a kind of head admin means I have no confidence in the mod team at this point. It's all brains and no wisdom. If Jade decided to interpret this comment as descent designed to harm the forum, under rule 11, I could now potentially be banned for life.

Rule 11 wouldn't be put into effect at all without multiple moderators discussing the user(s) involved, so, hopefully it will never have to be used. My issue is that for something called a community failure clause, why can't that rule actually involve the community somehow, although I can't really think of specific ways that it could work that way. But if someone is causing unrest in the community, then we would put it into play. We have specifically considered users such as those who might just keep on spreadding negativity and drama, and even then, it would not be instant, it would be considered over a length of time, and it will have to have multiple mods approval if any action is to be taken.

How can someone cause unrest to the point of requiring greater discipline without breaking any of the other clearly laid out rules? If it were voted on by the community I'd feel happier,  But it's a pointless bit of vaguery anyway. Punish badly behaved people on the rules that are easy to understand.

OK, the only other way I can put it is like this:
It is essentially an emergency case. No one reasonable would be subjected to this, as so many people here act civil, disagree civilly, etc, but then you get those who act quite entitled and who cause the community to get very argumentative with them, and if that keeps on happening, and it ends up being the same user all the time, then we'd start to consider it, but the very important thing is, it would be considered over time, not instantly unless a user just shows out and out disrespect straight away. Put it this way if you walk into a bar and start causing trouble, you would surely be on watch by the bar staff, and if you continued, then they'd take action, right?

Flackers, I'll give you an example.

JimDoe knows that his warnings expire every 7 days, so every 14 days or so, he goes off on one. It's not quite like clockwork, but after he does this seven or eight times in a five-month space, you can be pretty sure that he's skirting around the rules in full knowledge of what he's doing. Community failure would then be cited, because JimDoe will have had far more warnings overall than is needed for a ban. Cases like that are why a community failure clause has to be in effect; we need a way to deal with situations like that. It should be noted that community failure must, as has been clearly stated, be supported by multiple people, and cannot be used in order to ride someone we may not personally like out of town. It just...won't work that way.

Now, either you believe we're going to be accountable or you don't. General you here, to anyone reading. We can't make you choose one way or the other. But all I can say at this point is that we're taking everything into consideration and doing everything we can here.

Aaron, the reason it's called community failure is because it's about failing the community. Communities need rules, and rules are placed there to protect and guide the community. If you dance around them or otherwise prove yourself a huge detriment to the community, you have failed it and should face the music.

post 1 is desperately seaking for attention. as people on vorail once said, you're free to leave. the door is open, feel free to enter.
Do I agree with Jayde being an admin? that, I can't tell. Do I trust him? Absolutely not. At least, not for now. do I have concerns about the over all admin team? fuck yes. am I going to leave? no I won't. if, I was to leave, would I create topics alike, to seak for attention? I would hope people would curse me out if I did.

Aaron, I'm quite sure you believe in the validity of it, and would use it responsibly, but Jade seems very dominant at present, and he has done nothing to reassure me he would be a good person to have access to a thing like that. Anyway, we should probably continue this on the more appropriate thread.

I might go too. I've been harassed elsewhere by this same person because of a simple difference in opinions, and in one topic, I was outright called a spammer by this individual and everyone else was advised to ignore me. He claims I'm immature, but at least I'm not harassing someone who wasn't even talking to me. I might leave too. Those who want to leave can come over to my forum, which is linked in my profile, or go hang out on cafe random. Things really are better over there anyway. It's a fairly new site, so I don't know what they have in terms of staff, but the one admin I do know hangs out with us on a regular basis. She is a really good and fun person, and she has great ideas too. Warning, some of the games on that site are addictive, but that just makes it 10 times more fun and awesome. It's like Hitler has taken over this place. That's the best way I can describe it. And for those who know me and don't like me, stop reading now. For those who do know me and want to, get in touch. For those who don't know me and don't want to, fine with me. Your loss. For the nice ones who actually listen to what people want to say, same as everyone who wants to get in contact with me. Get in touch. I've been here for almost 4 years, and the place has never been so bad. We need to fix this, about 20 years ago, which is really saying something, since this place wasn't around 20 years ago. Hell, I was barely around 20 years ago.

pointless

The only people that should be posting leaving threads are moderators, as the community should be aware that they are stepping down.  Anyone else just looks silly.

Mammon slept. And the beast reborn spread over the earth and its numbers grew legion. And they proclaimed the times and sacrificed crops unto the fire, with the cunning of foxes. And they built a new world in their own image as promised by the sacred words, and spoke of the beast with their children. Mammon awoke, and lo! it was naught but a follower.
