Hi,
I've noticed we've not had a proper thread concerning these games, and I fully believe they deserve one.  smile
As strategic, turnbased rpgs go, all of these from Tia Story to Dungeon Quest are such great fun to play.  This is by far my favourite genre of game and I can't wait to talk about them all.  Ever since JGT came out, these have been even more fun to play due to  how simple menu navigation has become.
I'm currently playing Alternative Magic and have gotten past the light puzzle where you answer questions.
I will be honest, I have had very little trouble understanding at least the rough meaning of most of the dialogue, but when it came to this puzzle, I am so grateful that someone had kindly put the correct choices for this one on here.
So let's discuss.  Questions, tips, experiences, put them all here.
The slot machines are rather hard to get used to I'm finding, but hopefully with practice... I will win!

Hello.

I've not tried these games and would like to do so.

Please could you upload the games and the JGT addon for NVDA?

Thank you.

you can get jgt from www.blindgamers.com, also as alternitive magic and some other rpg's, there all are listed in the jgt's guide, which i would check out if i were you. you might have to translate some of the paiges, though.

Hello.

Thanks for the link. Everything works fine and no pages need translating. I tried one text game and have found that these games are not my kind of thing. The adddon is great for those who have the pacience for it, (The game i tried had a lot of menu items with no translated text,) but it's not for me.

Hi,
You shouldn't have had any issues with untranslated text if you followed the JGT manual.  I just checked it and it has everything listed, as well as links to download the relevant tools.
Now all I have to do is launch whatever shortcut I created through app locale while running JGT, hit shift tab to change the keyboard to japanese and boom.  It's so wonderfully simple that I can worry about challenges the games give me rather than the language barrier.
I'm currently alternating between alternative magic and dungeon quest dx whenever I just want to battle.
Does anyone know if the new tia story compliments the other two, or makes it so they aren't really worth playing?  My guess would be the former, at least where tia story 2 is concerned.

Hello.

I'll try another game on the site. I believe the game I tried was one of the war games.

Hello.

I've tried the Locale program twice now and when I run it I get this error: startup faled, okay button.

Here are  the steps I took: 1. I run LeInstaller and install the program.

2. I run LEGUI and click on the save button.

3. I close the LEGUI program.

4. I go to the Dungeon quest folder and press aplocations on  TxtGplay.exe and press L for Locale and enter again on Run in Japanese.

I get this error: Startup failed. Okay button.

I have installed the Japanese (Japan) Microsoft IME package and the JPG addon. I have loged in and have found that the games work ok with the addon by its self. The issue comes when I try to read the menus with the up and down arrows.

i have the same error. the only one that worked is the alternative game.

ok so i figured something out for those having trouble with running locale emulator. if you extract the game you want into the directory you put it in you should make sure there are no ansi characters in the folder name. When i tried tia story i had to delete the first character in that folder's name. That should help with the problem.

@dan_c, New Tia Story is sort of an alternate timeline to Tia Story 1 and 2; it combines elements of both games and changes a few things. TS1 and 2 are Morokuma's first published text games and are made with an older version of text game maker, so they are more simple in design.

Having said that I don't think there's any of the text games that aren't worth playing. New Tia Story may have some more advanced mechanics, but Tia Story 1 has a lot more post-game content, and Tia Story 2 has at least one location that is unavailable in New Tia Story.

let's ressurect this topic haha. I love those games. I finished tia story 1 last year I think but I lost my save somehow and now I'm playing new tia story. after I finish it I will play heaven and earth war 1 and 2, alternative magic and all the other morokuma games. Maybe I'll replay tia story 1 but considering that I finished it and lost the save, I don't know if I will, at least not for now. I finished a hero's call last week, and I wanted some new rpg's, and I remembered morokuma's games smile

here's a save file that will have you start the first heaven and earth war with over 500k coins to level up your stats and buy casino things, just rename the file to save1.dat and drop it in your game folder

I like the text games by Morokuma, but I've only beaten Tia Story 1 and 2, almost. I beat Heaven and Earth War 1, and almost beat 2 on hard mode. The fight with Tenjin on hard is near impossible, but at least it's a bit easier than Pound. For those who don't know how to beat Pound in Heaven on hard,

Use a combination of Earthquake and Blaze Touch or whatever the strongest fire type spell is. If you have it, Magma Hammer and Flame Sword (physical sword skill).
About the other games, they're also good. Alternative Magic, though it's fun, the story is sort of not the type of story I like. That's why I developed The Blank Game, but let's not bring that up again. Another thing I've been trying to do is finish Mazes of Dungeon, original version with just one character. Has anyone gotten to floor 99 of the laberenth dungeon and beaten whatever boss is their? I'm currently on floor 41 or 42, and the enemies are really hard. Guess I just need to buy more stat increasing items.

was alternative magic the last text game released by morokuma? I find that these text games are my cup of tea. I do not particularly like rpg's where you have to walk around and find things, but I did like a hero's call because that game is freaking awesome let's be honnest but it was an exception.
