That was a big part of the Swamp Tide mini game.  The big hurdle that tide ran into was that Kai's sounds did not really include everything that would be needed to have players take on the role of zombies.  It was just barely good enough for the Tide mini game, but even then there were some issues where the sounds made things confusing.

I'm enjoying this event, it's great fun just to load up some weapons and go on a zombie killing spree

2018-05-21 20:09:02

yeah i agree it sure is.

2018-05-22 15:46:00

ah, so a million ay? just a quick check Aprone, is their any way for us to know how close we are to the mark or if we would have reached the million count if some one managed to over pass that mark?

There's a place for me in this universe.

Each time someone logs in it tells them the total, or if you use the /MOTD command.  Also every 1000 kills announces the new total to everyone online so you get periodic updates without needing to stop and check.

hello aprone, is it possible for me to receive a language file for version 3.7? In the first post, only the language file for 2.9 is listed.

I used to be a knee like you, then I took an adventurer in the arrow.

2018-05-22 18:33:15

Connor I believe that's the most updated language file.

hi, does that mean it has the strings from 3.7 in it as well, or are those missing?

IIUC, you can probably add more lines manually.

Hi.
Connor, if you want you can take the language in spanish and translate to other languages if you wish.
We have the new things here and you can replace the spanish text with the translation.
Hope it helps.
You can download it from here (direct link, Dropbox)

Cristian.

run checkup.exe found in your swamp folder

Or redownload the game since it might be corrupt.

My system is recording a tremendous (hundreds per second) amount of writes to swamp\debuglog.txt. This is probably worth looking into with a fair degree of urgency. I'm very glad I'm not running the game on an ssd, and suspect that folks running hdds may be suffering lag as a result.

Edit: I was able to resolve this issue by suspending swamp via resource monitor, deleting the debuglog, and symlinking it to a ram disk. Performance did improve, or at least seems to have (I'm mid mission while writing this). After only five minutes, the new file is 820k.

2018-05-23 18:50:30

John, what has it been logging?  The specific error it's writing into the debuglog file would hopefully explain why it is happening.

I was going to edit to add, but since you posted: the debug is filled with the following repeated:
"
Identification step 1.
Identification step 2. [my ip]
Identification convert.
Convert done.
Identification step 3. 2080374794
Getting G E T
G E T succeeded.
"
It is now 2.46m.

2018-05-23 20:08:15

Thanks for letting me know John.  You should just delete the debuglog file whenever it gets too big.  I'm going to run some tests on my end and see if I can figure out exactly why your client is getting trapped in a loop there.

@Aprone:
Its not so much the size that worries me, its the write intensity. The reason I noticed it at all was the amount of noise my hdd was making as it kept seeking back and forth to the file, so I'm wondering if that might not be part of the performance troubles. If you're doing constant i/o, even in the background, that could cause some trouble.

2018-05-24 02:48:42

There normally isn't i/o, but clearly something on your client is erroring and that's why it's writing to the debug file.  That is exclusively for logging errors, so when things are operating normally, nothing goes into it.

I am able to confirm that on windows 10 pro. x64 the same issue that another user had, when trying to run swamp is indeed happening.
even when checkup.exe is ran, even when ran in admin mode, even when games coppied to desktop and ran from their, even when game folder is propperly extracted, and, even when progress.ini is deleted.

the game stil insists on erorr52 bad file name or number.
I am certain that it has to do with the inability to register some much needd files.
so i'll be looking in to this, and, once resolved, i'll post a solution here.
It is mildly frustrating that windows10 is being iffy about this.
if some one did manage to stumble on a solution, do let me know.
If not, i'll post back, once i've resolved this.

There's a place for me in this universe.

It is actually very crazy when you stop and think about just how huge one million is!  I am quite impressed, and look forward to going back through the chat logs for when you guys hit 1 million.  I'm sure it was quite an exciting time to be online in the game, haha.

I'm still fairly frantically coding away at what I intended as the prize.  I thought that if you guys pulled off the challenge, I'd have more time to get myself ready.  Who would have thought you'd not only kill all million, but do it with 5 days to spare?!
