so i've recently been getting more and more interested in skits and audio stuff like that, although edditing still won't work for me, i've been looking for good software to make some tts skits.
if anyone could give me some good software for it, and possibly a lot of voices for free, it would be graitly apriciated.

Is there a speak window for voiceover as well? I have used eloquence speak window to say random crap when i'm bored, but am always too lazy to do that on the mac because i have to type it all then change the voice and slow it down or speed it up or whatever manually.

For editing use Gold Wav and Audacity.

If using Windows, I recommend downloading Balibolka. It's an excellent program that supports SAPI 4 and 5 as well as the Microsoft Speech Platform. You can generate audio files from the speech as well. If you're on Mac, download a program called Babble from the Mac App Store. It allows you to do the same thing. You will also want to use an audio editor like Audacity, Gold Wave, or Amadeus to put your project together. I've used it to join many audio files together as well as add sound effects and mix audio together. I probably don't do the best job when it comes to text-to-speech skits, but I enjoy them. You can check out this series of videos I made about Microsoft Sam and Mac Alex. The quality on a couple of them is very poor because I was still learning about lossy audio. I now know you never continuously save a project in mp3 format because each save degrades the audio.

Hi,

It’s corect, that you can download a lot of voices from grossgang.com, and I’ll send links to some voices, that I’ll recoment for tts skitzes. They’re boath SAPI 4 and SAPI 5, so I’ll also put a link to download Balabolka, so you can use the voices from boath SAPI4 and SAPI 5:

Many people use the voice Microsoft Sam for their tts skitzes. Microsoft Sam is in two different versions. A SAPI 4 version, that was shipped with Windows 2000, and is the most used version, and a SAPI 5 version, that was shipped with Windows XP, and is a bit more bad. You can search for examples on YouTube. The SAPI 4 version is often called Speakonian Microsoft Sam, and the SAPI 5 version is often called Natural Microsoft Sam, or just Natural Sam. You’ll also get the voices Mike and Mary, if you’ll install this.

If you have Windows 7 or higher, and wants the Windows XP versions, then click here.

If you have Windows XP, you’ll allready have Microsoft Sam, and you can just click here to get Mike and Mary.

If you want the SAPI 4 version, you’ll have to install a lot more files, because I don’t know exactly, which file gives you the voice, so just download and install all those files:
http://grossgang.com/tts/sapi_voices/mstts.exe
http://grossgang.com/tts/sapi_voices/msttsf22l.exe
http://grossgang.com/tts/sapi_voices/msttsl.exe
http://grossgang.com/tts/sapi_voices/msttsm22l.exe
http://grossgang.com/tts/sapi_voices/msttss22l.exe
http://grossgang.com/tts/sapi_voices/msttsv.exe
http://grossgang.com/tts/sapi_voices/SpeechSDK51.exe
http://grossgang.com/tts/sapi_voices/Sp … ngPack.exe

The Truvoices is also used a lot in tts skitzes, so I’ll recoment, that you download them also.

Other Voices:
L&H TTS

Eloquence

RealSpeak English and Spanish voices

You’ll need 7-zip to unzip the RealSpeak voices. Download 7-zip here:
32-bit Windows
64-bit Windows

And finally, here is a link to download Balabolka.

If you need help, just reply, and I’ll be happy to help you.

And Chris… I think you do almost the best with your tts skitzes, maybe except the sound effects.

Hi Fox.

Well, just for sure, you'll need to install the program first, before doing anything else, except installing the voices.

So, when you open the program, you'll land in a text window, where you can type any text you want the voice to read. You control the voice's speaking as follows:
Play: press f5
Pause: press f6
Stop: press f7
When you press tab, you can choose, if you want SAPI 4 or SAPI 5 voices, or the voices from Microsoft Speech Platform. When you have chosen a version, you can press tab again, and you'll get a list of the available voices for this SAPI version.
When you've chosen a voice, you can press tab two or three times, and you'll then get to three sliders, which you can change by percent. The first is speed, the second is pitch, and the thirth is volume. When it is as you like, you can press tab again, and you're now back in the text window again, and you can now type your text.

When your text is finished, you can do two things. To save the text as a textfile, you can press ctrl+alt+s, and to save the text as a audiofile, you can press ctrl+w.

Hope this helps.

Best regards: Aksel Christoffersen

I used to use GoAnimate for the skits I did on Youtube. Sadly that's not around in its current form.
A similar service to Goanimate, and one that people do TTS Skits on all the time, is Plotagon, specifically Plotagon story. It is completely inaccessible for us though.
I've always wondered the best way to attract sighted people to the skits we make. I'm not a fan of the "Microsoft Sam Fails at" and other comedic videos, preferring to make stories like the epic Jaws for Windows is a Murderer. Granted, I do like them, I just wouldn't make them myself.
I guess if I want to make more I'll have to just settle for making them in audio and uploading them using Tunes to Tube.

I tried making one of those Microsoft Sam things, he tries to play Redspot. You can find it here.

I have only a Mac, can I still make the skits?

2018-04-28 05:26:52

Sure you can!
The only program you'll need to generate the speech is a free application called Babble.

Hello,
Learning Synthesis Markup Language is also one thing that will make your TTS skits creation easier.
I've started creating tts skits by using Reaper and my sound card's What You Here feature, but I've decided to start using SSML as well to make my work faster.
There are fiew TTS skits on my secondary Youtube channel, but they are in croatian language and made with croatian voices, so the most of you will be unable to understand. However, I've started working on Microsoft sam goes to war with Windows 10 OneCore voices in english, but I've paused it because I haven't wrote my entire plan for the scenes.
And, my favorite tts work is Chriss's Microsoft Sam in the war against Mac Alex. I watch this thing quite often. Also one of my funnyest TTS works is Microsoft Sam and Eloquence at war, created by Simon the TTS maker on Youtube.

Also, do you think it would be possible to do a votrax pss software synth for sapi5 using the votrax driver from mame?

I don't understand SSML, and I can't find documentation for it that seems complete, I understand it kind of approximates HTML syntactically. I also don't know how you would feed this SSML into the synth, which apps out there would be able to interpret the SSML. I know Amazon uses heavily in their Alexa voice.

Hello,
Balabolca can interprete that with SAPI voices, and here's how to control voices with xml tags: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/librar … s.85).aspx

2018-04-30 21:53:08

But xml-tags only work with SAPI 5. There are also commands for SAPI 4, and they are mutch easiere, I think. You can find boath in the Balabolka help.
