Most of you know that I enjoy mainstream games. Well, I just got resident evil 7 and here are my thoughts. First, this game is just awesome. No, there is no PDA like feature where it directs you where to go, but for me this just took the fun away of exploring, so that's definitely not an issue. If you have a good memory, are able to imagine a map in your head, this game is for you. Now, for those of you who played Metal Gear, the movements are basically the same. Head North, West, South and East with the left stick, turn using the right stick. Please, do yourself a big favor and play with head phones. You're mostly in an old house, doors squeaks, so you know where the doors are by listening. When you have to follow a friend, for example, you need to hear where he goes using head phones. Here are the controls.

Ps/Xbox action
square/x Reload
triangle/y Inventory
circle/b Cancel
x/a Action/confirm
l1/lb Block
r1/rb Use erb
l2/lt Aim
r2/rt Attack
Left stick press/l3 run
Right stick press/r3 croutch
DPAD inventory slots
Down on left analog plus circle/b turn around

Update March 5th:

Sorry for the huge delay. Trust me, it has nothing to do with the time I took to complete this game. I didn't play at all last week do to me being almost at the end of the game... and guess what? It's done. I completed the whole game without sighted assistance. The only time I needed sighted help is during some puzzles that are now fully and easily doable with the notes I've uploaded. Trust me, the feeling of completing this great game is just awesome. Feel free to ask any questions you might have. The zip file at the top contains everything you need to hopefully complete the game as well.

Well, there are tons of puzzles and there's anything like in RE6 so you can't autoaim etc. You can check it out by playing the free version which is availlable. It's a demo, better to play this beore wasting your money. smile

Oh yeah there is an auto-aim option. I tried their last  demo and with memorization I was doing pretty good, that's why I'll definitely give it a shot. Although I'm aware there might be some puzzles that might be hard, if not impossible to complete. But with the Pc version and some trainers that might come later, anything's possible.

I look very much forward to hear if you find it playable or not.

Best regards SLJ.

Yeah that's basically why I will upload recordings and will tell you what I think of it. I highly doubt that a lot of people on this forum will buy this game if there are puzzles that can't be solved, but since I'm a huge fan of mainstream games this is why I'll check it out smile

2017-01-23 17:35:49

@seb2000: is re 7 have a path finder like in re 6? someone said that this feature has been removed

going in to the wilds, collecting pokedex, and capturing them are my kind of thing,
training them, making them evolve, and generally making them stronger is my ultimate goal,
fighting other manamon tamers, winning the tournament, and fighting octoros are what these manamons like to do,
and ultimately, I become the master of mana!

2017-01-23 18:26:55

Here's what I know so far. I don't know if the PDA button is available, however, here's a great thing. When you use your right analog stick to turn, you turn at a 30 degree angle. So press it 3 times, and you turn to 90 degree to the left or right. Press up on the right stick and you face the direction you are looking in. You have to enable auto-aim in the settings. More on that later.

i've bought the deluxe edition.
@seb, some things never change, this topic is no surprise for me knowing you from past topics, and i'm sure it's not a surprise for you to see me in this one hahaha.
well figure something out!

I have no idea why people use trainers. They certainly don't allow you to "beat" the game.

2017-01-24 01:40:29 (edited by seb 2017-01-24 01:50:59)

Trainers are definitely not going to help you complete the game. Honestly there is no point of playing a game, give you infinite ammo/ health, and beating the game that way. This is simply stupid and will not give you any satisfaction. However, some trainers will help you aim at certain angles, for example like in re6 they are mandatory for us to complete the bell puzzle. Sighted people can see those bells, we can't, so using a trainer for this little part of the game, at least for me, makes it fair. This was just an example. Keep in mind that these games aren't for everyone. We all have our preferences and ways to play games, and memorization, patience, and motivation will help you beating those types of games (ask Mr. Brunete). I've been playing mainstream games for a long time and the satisfaction you get by completing them far outways the negative points.

2017-01-24 15:48:51

@seb2314, I'd love to know what games you've had luck playing/completing.  I'm desperate for games to play that aren't just fighters.

2017-01-24 20:57:41

i totally agree with seb.
i remember the first time i completed metal gear solid on my old PlayStation. the satisfaction was so great, even my best friend was amazed, and he knows me sinze i was 4 years old.
with resident evil 6, when i discovered the PDA mechanic (maybe someone found out it earlier) i was like... OMG, can't be true, it's too fantastic to be true..... but it was, and those things makes us to test more and more, no matter if we took 5 or 6 weeks to finish a game (if the game is long, it can take months, years) the important thing is to try, at owr own pace.
@seb.
sorry to ask you this, but can you please send me your notes or strategies for the bell puzzle in re6?. even if i use the rocket, i can't seem to hit them consistently. i managed to hit four of them but without directions, hiting that small one (because i'm sure that i'm missing a small bell hahaha) can be tricky, i think.

For the bell puzzle it's pretty easy. You need to go in the camera tab using the trainer and enter default value for aiming, I'll have to check my notes though I don't remember the correct value. I'll send you a PM

2017-01-25 03:58:59

it seems the pm option is dissabled, can you send me an e-mail?
my address is:

If you can, send me the values for the bell puzzle, and if you have any suggestions for the driving sequence with chris and piers, and finally jake's driving sequence in chapter 4, it'll be greatly apreciated.

hi, so did anyone discovered on how playable is this new resident evil game? is this one also have a PDA like in re 6?

going in to the wilds, collecting pokedex, and capturing them are my kind of thing,
training them, making them evolve, and generally making them stronger is my ultimate goal,
fighting other manamon tamers, winning the tournament, and fighting octoros are what these manamons like to do,

@dan_c Well, I was able to complete without sighted assistance the first 3 MGS games, Mortal Kombat special forces, Tenchu 1 and 2, splinter cell chaos theory, resident evil 6, and many more, these are the one I have in mind. Keep in mind that save states, patience and following some walkthrough on gamefaqs have been used to help me.

@Mr. Brunete I'll email you soon.

Back on the main subject, no there is no PDA like in resident evil 6 unfortunately. I'll upload the first part of me playing this game tonight, stay tuned

Splinter cell? tenchu? wow, these are games really, REALLY hard to play for us, can't imagine how someone can complete this kind of game being totally blind.

The first splinter cells were impossible to play. You were spotted, it was game over. But Chaos Theory was a different story. The movement commands were pretty much the same as in resident evil 7. I'll say it again, playing with decent head phones is definitely a big part of it. As for tenchu, it's definitely doable with save states and walkthrough on gamefaqs.com. Patience is the key
