Hi all,

The CrazyMod is a mod for SoundRTS supported by a group of regular players. With these 8 races, the CrazyMod enriches your game and forces you to develop your sense of strategy. So you can easily learn to manage a race, but every part you'll need to adjust your game depending on the map and opponents' choice.

The original language of CrazyMod is French, but the mod is also playable in English and Spanish. A complete English documentation is now available thanks to contributors of the forum.

I invite you to discover the CrazyMod and give us your opinion.

CrazyMod website: http://pragmapragma.free.fr/soundrts-crazymod/

Thanks, and excuse my basic English.

Hi,
I have just started downloading it,and just by reading the basic discriptions am quite excited to explore its many fasets.
hmm, perhaps a google translate from french to english is in order.

Hi.
Welcome here on the forum.
Wow, this sounds interesting. So this is not just a sound pack for Sound RtS? Sorry, I don't speak frensh at all, so I can't read up on the information on the website.
edit:
Sorry, I firstsaw the english translation on the website after my post. Read more at:
http://pragmapragma.free.fr/soundrts-crazymod/en/
I'm still unsure on what is added to the mod. More races sounds really cool, but is there more?
I'm quite surprised that it's all is translated to, or originally made in Frensh. Are there so many blind people in france so it's worth it? I mean, most games are originally made in english and then translated into other languages, so I just find this really cool! smile
It would be interesting to hear some gameplays of the mod.
Keep up the good work man, and I look forward to hear more about this.

Best regards SLJ.
Feel free to contact me privately if you have something in mind. If you do so, then please send me a mail instead of using the private message on the forum, since I don't check those very often.

It's in French because the developer is French so that is how the game was originally made.

Sound RTS is an awesome game so it's really good that there is still some kind of development going on with it.

wow, this sounds exciting. Definitely going to check it out.

Hi.
I'll help with the English translation.
Is there a better way than contacting you on this forum?
I'd like to copy and paste and change a few words and things and putting it on this forum might get borring for others to read.
I'm trying this out now and it sounds awesome!

I'm gone for real :)

Hi.
You will want to be careful with either this mod or the sound RTS program, when using NVDA.

The game crashed on me, and made NVDA unusable. Lucky for me I had or have narator and used that to shut down restart and then get NVDA from there site since I stupidly didn't download it to my NVDA folder.
So just a warning be careful.
Apart from that the game is great, Although it calls the first peasant a peasant in the campaign mode. Instead of a Serf. I think that should be fixed if possible.

I'm gone for real :)

Hi,

Thanks for your notices.

The CrazyMod is not a sound pack. It realy contains 8 playable races, and if you play on a server, you have a menu before starting to choose your race.

The campaign mode is not yet adapted for the CrazyMod. Ideally, we should develop a campaign specifically for the CrazyMod. Maybe we'll think about it...

I use NVDA and I don't have particular difficult to play with the mod. The CrazyMod uses last alpha version of SoundRTS and it's possible that it's sometimes instable. Anyway, please note that it's necessary to play with a synthese because the mod doesn't contain audio files for the voice.

We would be very happy to translate the documentation in English and any help is welcome. Think you Brad for your proposition. It's possible to write private messages on this forum but perhaps you thought of something else.

For the moment, when you play, don't forget you can press V to know some informations about the selectioned building or unit. You can know for example if a unit is invisible or if it detects invisible ennemies.

2014-06-04 11:43:52

Hi.
I think Skype would be easier and quicker to send messages.
That way we can send a file wit hthe corrections or with the help. It would be a lot quicker than sending a pm, well that's what I think anyway.

I'm gone for real :)

2014-06-04 11:49:27

Thanks for the mod. In fact, I understand French and can express in it more than English, English is my third language while French is my second one. But all my friends told me that my English isn't that bad. Anyways, thanks for the mod and have a nice day.

2014-06-04 13:33:06

This mod is pretty great! I worked on translating the various class descriptions for the mod a bit. I only have 1 of them complete, which is the elf, but if you want it, just let me know, and I can email it to you or PM you with the translation. This mod is crazy good and I can forsee myself playing a ton more games in sound rts with the mod!

Wow, this mod is awesome. I'm in the process of translating the documentation, but its going to take some time. I'm also adding more details, such as numerical attack/defence values, speed, and range as the original documentation does not include this information.

2014-06-05 10:34:26 (edited by Victorious 2014-06-05 17:02:14)

Because robotics are my favourite race so far, I've spent some time writing documentation for robotics. I primarily used the rules.txt file rather than the French documentation, as it was not sufficiently detailed. I'll be doing technological next.
Edit: lines marked with a questionmark denote information that i'm unsure of.
Edit2: fixed incorrect information about optical laboratory, and decay time of overheated plasma cannons. Expanded information on magnetic storm (and added an entry for the magnetic storm unit) and radar image, and added mana regen information to towers.
edit3: fixed incorrect transport capacity info and added farm info

Robotics race

The large amounts of gold required to develop buildings may deter some - especially since all units require at least a secondary building, However, once the infrastructure has been developed, robotic units can be recruited at relatively low cost. Additionally, with the exception of geeks, robotic units don't require food. Robotic units are relatively fragile but have excellent offences; robots are the only race with units capable of attacking both grounded and airborn targets in adjacent squares. Finally, it should be noted that robots are vulnerable  against invisible enemies, as developing the technology to see invisible units takes some time.

Hi all,

Thanks for your help. I know it should not be easy for you because the rules.txt file uses French names.

About health power, it's care levels and not HP per second. One level heals 0.13 HP per second. Also, for example, serenity tree heals 0.52 HP per second, and not 4 HP per second. It's same with harm level.

About splash damages, I don't know exactly how it works and how it interacts with damage radius. We have supposed splash damage concerns the immediately adjacent units of the target, but perhaps splash damage is just a boolean parameter that activates damage radius value.

About wooded illusion, it's not just centaurs that become invisible, but all the friendly buildings and units on the square.

Otherwise, there are just some small mistakes, like the description of optical laboratory or the 10 minutes instead of 10 seconds for the overheated plasma cannon. But what you have done is really great, thank you again to you.

I was really confused about harm level. When my explosives magazine exploded, it did 192 hp damage on my airship factory, but in the rules file, it is at harm level 800. So 800 * 0.13 times 2 seconds should be 208 - is there anything wrong with my calculation? I checked, and airship factories do not have any armor. Robotic race post updated to fix incorrect information.

Technical race

Technical race are powerful offensively, capable of defeating the toughest enemies. However, to be properly used, technical units must be handled carefully so that units compensate for each other's weaknesses. Pay close attention to the ability or inability of units to attack airborn enemies, and note that this race has only one building and unit able to detect invisible units.

Hi.
I'm going to try to help as much as I can here.
Sorry if things have already been done.
I'm going to post what I think the races list should say.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The Traditional Race
Originally designed to stay close to the original human race of SoundRTS, the traditional race now has characteristics making it quite competitive. Surprise your opponents using the innovations introduced by the CrazyMod.

The Technical Race
Between the use of powder (i'm not sure if that should be power or powder.) and the launch of airships, this breed comes straight from the modern era. You will need excelent coordination to master this race.
The robotic race

Technology does not require food, so why not use it? Maybe because it's expensive, but the price is certainly worth it.

The Dark Race
Frighten your competitors using their own fallen units in combat, unless you prefer to pounce on them from the air in a cursed flurry!

The Elven race
Elves will seduce you as much by their deadly arrows as by their dazzling magic. Adopt agility and get a step ahead of your enemies!

The Orc Race
This is a breed that knows how to strike, and who can also play tricks. Why don't you ride your hippogriff and enforce your dominance at any cost?

The Elemental Race
Choose simplicity, with a small number of units and crush your enemies with individual elemental superiority .

The Savage Race
This race has learned to use the forces of nature to be respected, including face the most hegemonic ambitions.

Download and configuration
For Windows users, things are pretty simple. It is not necessary to have SoundRTS or to replace files in subfolders. The CrazyMod is indeed directly provided in a portable version of SoundRTS. Just unzip, enter the folder you created and run the application "soundrts.exe". Then just press enter on options to change your nickname.

For those who use another operating Windows or for experienced users of Windows system, we propose here the only mod folder. It is your responsibility to integrate into your SoundRTS and activate.
In the version of SoundRTS used by the CrazyMod, that is to say 1.2 alpha 8, integration of races is made in the online game only. So even if you play alone, you must open a server and then throwing a party. Then you will find a menu allowing you to choose your race.
•Download SoundRTS 1.2 alpha 8 with CrazyMod 8
•Download the CrazyMod's folder
Contact
If you have any problems with the mod, if you have any suggestions, if you want more information, you can write to us in the topic dedicated to the CrazyMod on the AudioGames' forum.

I've completed documentation for the elemental and elf race. I've also converted everything into html with heading markup so that its much easier to navigate through the document. The link to the current state of documentation is at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/213 … glish.html

I'll post any future updates to the documentation to that page, and will remove the documentation posted on this thread.

The next races that I intend to work on are the dark race and traditionals.

Hi,

Thanks again for what you do. I suppose you allow us to integrate your translations on our site or in the ZIP file.

About units that can attack on adjacent squares, they can normally defend itself on its current square, if the range isn't 0. If I remember, just the catapult's range is 0.

SoundRTS is more fun in multiplayer mode. If you don't find players, perhaps we can organize multiplayer games here ?

As Brad suggested, we could share our Skype usernames, but I don't think I can understand and speake correctly English. smile

The link has been updated with information the dark race.

Yup, i'll be happy if this gets put on your website and packaged with the .zip file with an acknowledgement that I did this documentation.

Once I've done testing on this special range thing I'll correct it.

2014-06-09 07:25:43
