So, your playing against a friend who is better than you on rtr. And you have just about had it, and... Seriously. One more kill and you swear for a few minutes. This guide will teach you how to own said friend.
First off, play with headphones. Playing with earphones really isn't going to be good enough for this situation. You need as good a frequency response as you can get. This way, you can hear the enemy a lot better. Secondly, if your playing against a cheater, this guide means nothing. None of the ideas and or steps apply, since most cheaters will simply spin in circles while firing a certain weapon.
Now, on with the guide!
This guide assumes you have a basic working knowledge of rtr. If you don't, please consult the included release notes.
Firstly, know the map. This is the most important rule for playing any game that includes a detailed map. This also makes it easier to run away, should you be running low on health and ammunition.
Next, have as much as a distraction free environment as you can. No, don't go playing rtr while at a loud house. Try to have as few applications running that generate sound. If you get caught off guard because of your e-mail program letting you know you have a new e-mail, you are most certainly done for.
Run circles around the enemy. Seriously. No joke, this works wonders, especially  if the enemy is slow to react. You can also get in some cheap shots if you do it right. Along these same lines, if your feeling daring, you can sometimes shoot the enemy from behind. They won't even see it coming. At least if you do it right.
Know where your weapons are. I can't stress this enough, but know what numbers draw what weapons. If you have a mouse, using the scroll wheel allows you to cycle through the weapons you have collected.
Race the enemy to an item. So say there is a health increase that just so happened to appear right next to both you and the enemy. If the item is far away enough, you might be able to pull this off. Run for the item, but instead of simply running, turn 90 degrees either left or right, then side dive in the direction you were facing before you turned. Do this enough, and you might just have the health increase. Also, along these same lines, if you really wanted to do this, use an automatic weapon for this next step. Let the enemy have the item, however, since the enemy is far too busy to pay attention to you, now is your time to get in a few cheap shots. Aim your weapon at the item, and most likely you have a lock on the enemy. This won't always work, however.
Decide if it is a good idea to reload before the next battle or not. This can save you time, and health. If you don't, while you reach for another magazine, the enemy has that much more time to target you. Find a good hiding spot, and call it your reloading area. Reload and exchange weapons if you need to.
Scout out hiding spots. Wouldn't it be nice if you could suddenly appear from what seemed like out of nowhere? If you find some hiding spots, you could do just that. This also applies with my first tip. But one thing. Don't stay there for too long! And also, don't go telling the entire world your in said hiding spot.
These tips should now be enough for you to own your friends on rtr. However, I did not cover team death match. Enjoy!

Thumbs up
